Are Texans Tired Of Gov. Rick Perry?

(snip)
Perry has been governor of Texas since George W. Bush left Austin for Washington in 2000. He has been in office so long that every one of the state's myriad courts and commissions has Perry appointees. He has been there so long that the moniker bestowed on him by the late Molly Ivins, "Governor Good Hair," has become passe. He has been there so long that in the minds of many voters the election comes down to "More Rick Perry?" or "No more Rick Perry?"

Accusations

Critics see a pattern of insider dealings in the long tenure of the 60-year-old Perry. Three notable examples:

— The pharmaceutical giant Merck hired the governor's former chief of staff as lobbyist when the governor ordered all sixth-grade girls to be vaccinated with a new anti-virus drug.

— A Perry legislative aide worked for a Spanish highway company that won a state contract to build a vast network of toll roads across the state.

— Texas chicken king Bo Pilgrim donated $125,000 to Perry's GOP interests after the governor requested a waiver from the Environmental Protection Agency's ethanol rules that Pilgrim wanted.

Hell I didn't even know about the Bo Pilgrim quid quo pro deal at all.

1. White winning this race.....
......would give us Texas Democrats something to smile about and be hopeful for for a change. God knows we need a boost. Giving Bush to the world will be something this state will never live down. We used to have Ann Richards, Molly Ivins, and Liz Sutherland to cheer us up, at least, but they are now gone, and no one can take their place. White is probably a moderate, but he's good at his job of administrating, views public service as a worthy thing, has some good ideas, and is good at heart. I'm so ready to look at his shiny pate and big ears every day for a long time!!!!

2. Another Rick Perry donor sweetheart deal
Dallas Morning News 10/13/10
Gov. Rick Perry approved $4.5 million for donor's start-up firm without regional board's OK

Gov. Rick Perry approved a $4.5 million award from the state's technology fund to a company founded by a major campaign donor despite the company's failure to win the endorsement of a regional screening board, The Dallas Morning News has learned.

The money was awarded in August to Convergen Lifesciences Inc., founded by Perry contributor David G. Nance. Convergen was allowed to bypass a key part of the Texas Emerging Technology Fund's extensive process for vetting applications, and to proceed for approval to a statewide advisory board appointed by Perry.

A spokeswoman for Perry said Tuesday that the money was properly awarded to Convergen because the law establishing the tech fund allows applicants to appeal decisions by regional reviewers.

However, the law makes no mention of such appeals.

The chairman of the regional board in Houston, one of the state's largest, told The News he had never heard of an appeals process. Walter Ulrich, also a former member of the tech fund's statewide advisory committee, said approval by regional boards is mandatory.

:wtf: How can Texan voters not give a shit that Perry won't even abide by Texas law! Someone please hold this criminal accountable for something!

6. Bill White on Perry's selling the Governor's office
From Burnt Orange Report 10/13/10:
http://www.burntorangereport.com/diary/10862/rick-perrys-political-machine-is-selling-state-government">Rick Perry's Political Machine Is Selling State Government

"Rick Perry uses the governor's office to benefit his friends, his contributors and himself. The only way to end Perry's abuses is to elect a new governor. In the meantime the appropriate authorities need to investigate the corruption in the governor's office right away," said Bill White.

"I demanded last week that Perry disclose all personal and state financial ties with Mr. Nance and Perry refused. Now we see why. This is a bombshell," said White.

4. Just how many more corrupt deals can Perry stick his dirty hands in???
I smell an upset coming, and I think the voters in Dallas are FINALLY realizing how corrupt Perry is. The big question is will they still vote for him? Hopefully White will visit as many counties or cities that he can to keep getting his word out. I'm hoping to see him on the 18th :)

5. Me too
If only more Texas media would be honest about his corruption.

He's been dirty from the beginning and the Texas media kept giving him passes.

Let's hope Texas voters don't give him any more passes.

Perry is in it for himself - big time!
