Keller school board candidate arrested on drug charge Tea Bagger Delux

A candidate for the Keller school board was arrested this week after officers found marijuana, marijuana plants and drug paraphernalia inside his north Fort Worth home, police reported.


David Marlin Besser Officers searched the home of David Marlin Besser in the 11600 block of Winding Brook Road after getting a tip that he was providing marijuana and alcohol to teens, according to a police report.

Besser, 45, who was a member of the school district’s bond committee in 2008, is running against Trustee Cindy Lotton for Place 3. The election is Saturday.

Besser faces a charge of possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor. He was also being held on three traffic warrants out of Wilmer with fines totaling $1,723.60, jail records show.

The police report states that two of Besser’s three daughters, ages 9 and 15, were removed from the home by Child Protective Services because of the living conditions that officers found.

The tipster also alleged that Besser would host parties at his Woodland Springs subdivision residence for teens and provide them alcohol, the report stated.

“Narcotics investigators received a tip that there was underage drinking and marijuana use at that residence,” said Lt. Paul Henderson, a Fort Worth police spokesman. “That’s what led up to the investigation, which subsequently resulted in a search warrant being executed and the arrest of Besser.”

I don't have a problem with marijuana use and frankly it's a non-violent crime. But still this guy sounds like he was very irresponsible with his kids.

Hi all,

New to your forum. I'm not a political activist, but recent events that have affected me directly have caused me to become a bit more "interested" in what is happening around me. I'll admit that most people would label me as conservative leaning, but frankly, the big-picture liberal vs. conservative debate doesn't really matter to me anymore. I'm a resident of north Texas and have watched as several people close to me have had their families destroyed by the corruption and cronyism in the local court system (particularly the family courts).

I came across this story about Mr. Besser and I have to say that it turned my stomach. I have no interest in debating whether or not a little marijuana is dangerous or not, etc..., but it seems way too convenient that this guy has his house raided while he is away, based on an anonymous tip, and he is taken away to jail. The story implies that he smokes methamphetamine even though nothing of the sort was found. And the worst part of all, CPS took away two of his daughters. My heart breaks for all of them.

None of this makes sense to me and it is far too similar to other things I've seen and heard about locally. I've tried to determine his party affiliation and that of the person he was running against, but other than the Tea Party reference, I haven't found much. But I don't think it really matters. It seems to be that whoever has power uses it to crush and destroy their fellow citizens...their neighbors. And their kids.

I'm sick of it. I am ready to rock the boat.

It does concern us as a community that he has meth and MJ paraphernalia in his bedroom closet with children in the house??? We have to be a responsible part of our community and abide by our comm laws?

I agree with you that our criminal justice system in Texas is broken. We have the absolute worst in the nation.

And you won't find too many supporters of CPS here either. Those CPS agents always over react, all for media coverage.

We don't know the back story as you say. We only get press accounts. Could it have been a set up? Who knows. Nothing about Texas politics or the criminal justice system would surprise me one damn bit.
