1. dem opponent for Hopson
I haven't heard anything yet. Of course the Cherokee County dem party may as well be on Mars because it seems there's no life in there. I would love the pick up the mantle myself but I've got far too much on my plate as it is. I do look forward to voting against Hopson in March.

3. Welcome to DU Texas Forum BenjaminFranklin!
:hi:

Nice to see that you would consider running yourself. You are my kind of Democrat!

2. No seat unchallenged
I hope a Democrat will jump into the race.

He does have a primary opponent in the R primary. See Derby's earlier thread on Hopson switching parties.

Jacksonville dentist Michael Banks confirmed with QR this afternoon that he will seek the GOP nomination in HD 11, challenging the incumbent representative, Chuck Hopson, who announced last week that he was switching his party affiliation to Republican.

4. it was my understanding
that Hopson was a Democrat, but has now switched alliances. I'm sad about the defection, we don't have many Dems in the East Texas area to begin with.

5. That's right.
I think there are very few white Democrats. Some.
