WTH??? Just called my congresswoman's office regarding...
HCR and how the opt-out provision would possibly affect us, and she told me to contact my Senator in my District (23). Called Tim, (of Sen. West's office... yes, I'm calling him out), and he had NO IDEA WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT in regards to HCR and the the opt-out provision. I told him that we have absolutely no representation in this state... and you know what he said, and I quote, he said, "UH-HUH"... Well, that's it folks!!! These are MY so-called representatives for MY district. I pray that your reps in your counties/districts are more informed and caring than mine! This is an effing shame!! ~SMDH~

1. Don't you think they meant Cornyn and KBH?
Senator West represents you in the Texas Legislature. Cornyn and Hutchison "pretend to represent" all of Texas in the U.S. Senate.

The health care reform bill is a national piece of legislation and Senator West would be in the same boat as you are i.e. contacting his Congressional Representative and Senator.

If your Congresswoman's office told you to contact Senator West - that wasn't good advice. Not much he could do about your concerns. He doesn't get to vote on that legislation at all.

I'd rail back on the people not representing you - the Congresswoman's office and their advice and our two worthless Senators who both oppose HCR.

2. I don't think she mean't Cornyn and/or KBH...
AND, the congresswoman's office stated that Johnson represented me at the federal level, so I shouldn't be calling her, and she stated that I needed to contact my representative from MY senatorial district. I wasn't thinking clearly, so I took her at her word. Like you posted here, why would the congresswoman's office even pass the buck like that??? This is exactly why I've often stated that some of these reps have been in office far too long... this just proves that some of them are holding their seats just for personal reasons.

3. The people in Johnson's office are passing the buck
That's really bad. How can they be so confused! Maybe if you gave them a bill number HR 3200. That's the bill number in the House. H.R.3200 - America's Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009.

You are mainly calling to make sure that Johnson supports the public option in that bill.

From MoveOn's script:
"Health care reform must include a strong public health insurance option that's available immediately."

And it doesn't hurt to call KBH and Cornyn either. Yes it's a lost cause but you'll feel better that you did. They have to hear from their constituents even when they oppose us.

Senator Kay Hutchison: 202-224-5922

Senator John Cornyn: 202-224-2934

4. Yep, it is bad. You would think that the people who work there...
would have a little bit of an idea of what HCR is about. If she didn't, she should've just taken a message. I did email Johnson last Friday, but I just wanted to talk with someone personally. Oh well, I guess it's water under the bridge now anyway. I just need to try to help get Gilbert elected governor, and work to get "OTHERS" unseated later.
