Pete Sessions town hall tonight
Tonight's town hall meeting has been changed from Irving City Hall to Ranchview High School to accommodate a larger crowd:

When: 7:00 - 8:30

Where:
Ranchview High School
8401 Valley Ranch Pkwy
Irving, Texas 75063

If anybody attends, please take pics, post blogs and send the links to Sessions Watch (http://sessionswatch.blogspot.com/)

Sessions Watch has also posted a list of questions we'd like answered; if you feel like elbowing your way past the teabaggers to ask one of our questions, we sure would appreciate it. Proposed questions are available at this link: http://sessionswatch.blogspot.com/2009/08/tonights-town-hall-weve-got-questions.html">Tonight's Town Hall: We've got questions!

1. Happy Town Hall!
Hopefully it will be more productive than just a bunch of shouting.

Let us know how it goes.

2. Ugh. I need a shower.
Pete Sessions is a first rate asshole. There was a woman with a heart-felt story about her husband who had a liver transplant 20 some years ago and has to take expensive anti rejection meds for the rest of his life. He lost his job, they sold the house, COBRA and unemployment are running out, and no insurance co. will take him with his pre-existing. He doesn't qualify for disability because he's really not disabled with the liver rejection under control. And he will certainly die without his meds.

So Sessions fakes a brief expression of empathy, then goes into a tirade about how we all need to go to Obama and tell him to "fix the real problem", whatever that is. Best I can figure, he was saying if only government spending and taxes were reduced, her husband would magically have his health care. :wtf: And he kept going on about how the healthcare fix they need shouldn't burden the greater population.

I felt so bad for this poor woman going through a real live healthcare system failure, bearing her heart to Sessions, and all he can offer is failed conservative platitudes.:puke:

3. I got mine, you get yours
That's the whole core value in this debate on their side. The republican mantra is so selfish and un-American and un-Christian. How can they reconcile these values in their puny little hearts and heads. Would Jesus turn away a needy or sick person? Is their God asking them to worship money over the common humanity? If so, they are worshiping the wrong God.

They are such heartless cowards and money worshipers.

I would point out to Pete that there is a "death panel" right now that will make a decision on whether this woman's husband lives or dies - because none of the "for profit" hospitals will continue to treat him without the idol they worship - money/profit.

My heart goes out to this couple too. I hope that we can get something passed soon so they and thousands others like her can feel a sense of relief that they stand a chance to live.

4. This woman's story was not told in vain.
Even though Sessions is only interested in protecting the insurance companies and his own campaign contributions, other people will remember her story. I will remember her story as I continue to fight for health care reform. Thank you for sharing it.

5. Yeah! What an asshole!
"Tell the President!" Uh, Pete, you're our CONGRESSMAN, supposedly our representative in Washington!

Ugh. Even Joe Barton has more compassion, which surprised the hell out of me, but there's Smokey Joe on C-SPAN, going to bat for a constituent and asking the insurance industry execs if it bothers him that people die because they deny care to sick people.

(See Rep's. Joe Barton & Bart Stupak throw down on health Care CEO's
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sYTLbAtzhs )

Good lord, if even Joe Barton can empathize with sick constituents, why can't Pete?

12. My son will face the EXACT same problem post-kidney transplant, it's insane!
Pete Sessions doesn't give one crap about this I am sure.

That man, & my son, WILL DIE without those meds - no question about it.

And the wife was absolutely correct in every point you said she made. Transplant recipients are schooled in the reality of this by their transplant centers.

Because my son is still young, we've seriously considered looking into sending him to Canada, post-transplant, to preserve his life.

Isn't that insane????

Sessions is a complete asshole and couldn't care less about real people dying like her husband and my son.

6. Pete Sessions Answers the Blimp Question (sort of)
The latest from Sessions Watch--a summary of last night's town hall, including video of Pete Sessions giving a vague answer to the question "Why a blimp?"

8. He got an applause for that?
I agree with you he didn't answer the question - he just gave a rah rah speech for the soldiers.

9. He sure did!
It was unbelievable--just like Oprah had entered the room telling everybody she was giving them new cars!

I wish we had video on all of them so people who can't make these could at least catch up on them.

11. Thanks. I've got more
I just need to download the video and convert it to Mpeg4. Maybe I'll have time over the weekend. I want to get the response Thought Criminal wrote about, where Sessions fakes empathy. It's really horrible.

7. Typical Repugnant. They care about nothing but themselves...
and others who are in the same salary range as them. Selfish b*stards is what they are.
