by way of Carl Whitmarsh's list. As follows:
"Lloyd Criss is the Democratic Party Chair of Galveston, a former member of the SDEC and a former member of the Texas House of Representatives. Ken Bailey is the former political director of the Texas Democratic Party, a former field director of the Democratic National Committee and for many years a lobbyist for the Firefighters Union. We are obviously discussing here the upcoming (maybe) special U.S.Senate race and our subject is Bill White and "STINKY", as referred to by Mr. Criss, is former State Comptroller, former Railroad COmmissioner and former State Senator and Representative, John Sharp.
Mr. Ken Bailey: Dear Ken: I always supported you when you were employed at the Texas Democratic Party because you were the only labor guy on staff and because I maintained a favorable opinion of you. Your recent sleazy attack on our Democratic U. S. Senate candidate Bill White places your merits in doubt.
Obviously you are being used by his Democratic opponent because I and other County Democratic Chairs heard these same accusations recently=2 0coming right out of his mouth. Unlike you, I am not going to criticize a Democratic U. S. Senate candidate by name so I am going to refer to your guy as “Stinky.”
You should ask “Stinky” the following questions: Democrats need to know the answers.
1. Why did “Stinky” draft and lobby the legislature for Governor Rick Perry’s phony tax legislation?
2. Why did “Stinky” allow his name to appear on bumper strips and billboards with George W. Bush when we had a Democratic Party candidate opposing him?
3. Why did “Stinky” refuse to appear on the stage at the state Democratic Convention with Gary Mauro when he was our party’s candidate for Governor?
4. Why did “Stinky” so adamantly oppose President Clinton and ask for his resignation when the Republicans were trying to impeach him?
5. Why did “Stinky” oppose the idea of President Clinton attending our state Party convention in El Paso?
6. What is “Stinky’s” position NOW on a woman's right to choose AND what was it WHEN he was a legislator?
7. Why did “Stinky” author a constitutional amendment on Initiative and Referendum as a legislator when both his party and organized labor adamantly opposed it? Does he want a Proposition 13 in Texas?
I am surprised and disappointed that you and “Stinky” and the Republicans favor the sale of illegal assault weapons to criminals You have both used Bill White’s membership on the Bloomberg Task Force as your number one reason to oppose him. The sole reason for its existence is to stop the sale of illegal assault weapons to criminals.
I wonder how other Democrats feel about criminal ownership and use of illegal assault weapons.
Sincerely, Lloyd Criss Galveston County Democratic Party
