1. ROLF
That is freaking hilarious! He is more delusional than I thought. Maybe it's time his family thought about long term mental care for Smokey Joe.

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

If he resigns to run, now that would be cool!

3. Can anyone say Tower in 1961?
When about a million democrats ran to replace Johnson, and he won because he was alone?

Maybe White and Sharp could reach a deal, one drop and move to governor? And now we have what, 6 repubs?

4. I don't think he has to resign to run. Correct me if I'm wrong but the
Startlegram article indicates that he doesn't have to resign his house seat.

6. I think you are right.
But the new litmus test for "seriousness" among the Repubs seems to be "Are you willing to give up your seat before you run for the next office?"

I wish the legislation that was proposed this last session, that would require railroad commissioners to resign before they ran for another office, would have made some headway.

2. Well Smokey Joe being from the Party of NO, I think our chances look GOOD
Why elect someone who doesn't want government to work?!?!? What's the point?

Funny how these creeps hate the government that they are a part of, it must be hard facing the mirror each day seeing the (self loathing) government starring back at them.

Of course the major corporations will be giving him gobs of campaign money. We just need to expose him as the pig at the trough that he is, he ONLY represents the Corporatocracy.

5. Only if somebody runs and only if 1) they get some help from the
national party and 2) the friggin Dems turn out to vote.

So who's running?

7. Two so far: my emails from the candidates
BILL WHITE

Martin Frost of POLITICO, Texas Senate seat within Democrats' reach:

Basically, my partner wanted to know who White is and why he is running for U.S. Senate as a Democrat in a reliably Republican state for a vacancy that did not yet exist. The answer is that White may be the next Fred Smith, the founder of the revolutionary package shipping company FedEx, who correctly saw opportunity when no one else did. White started running a year ago for a vacancy that would occur if Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison finally acted on her off-again, on-again desire to run for governor of Texas in 2010.

...

If White, who has wide support from the Democratic establishment in the state and who has already raised a significant amount of money, were the only Democrat on the ballot, he would be assured of a place in any runoff against whichever Republican survives. Should the Republican turn out to be a weak or extreme nominee, White would have a legitimate chance of winning a runoff.

...

White is methodically traveling the state, raising money and getting ready.

JOHN SHARP

John has earned an international reputation for making government work better and cost less. That's the kind of seasoned leadership we need in Washington today.

And, today, John's campaign is continuing to unite communities across Texas, from Beaumont to El Paso, as the latest UT poll showed him leading the field of candidates lining up to replace current U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison.

The polls show that we have the momentum, so please take a moment to help make sure John has the resources to win by contributing whatever you can afford today.

State Rep. Norma Chavez and a group of local leaders hosted a great event in El Paso, featuring John eating a crunchy grasshopper taco for the cause! In Beaumont, State Reps. Allan Ritter and Joe Deshotel gave John their enthusiastic endorsement. "Washington needs a good dose of John Sharp's style of bi-partisan problem-solving to create new jobs and get our economy moving again," Ritter said.

Of course if these candidates can't raise the cash they need then we already know that the DSCC will not help out in any way shape or form. I'm still pissed they didn't help Noriega, even after Bill & Hillary suggested they do so. Instead Schumer used their funds to support incumbents who already had a war chest full of Lobbyists Dirty Money. :(
