Austin State Capitol South Steps, Sun 8/9/09 11am
Edited on Tue Aug-04-09 09:54 PM by bonzotex
Organizing for America is hosting a "Reform Health Care Now" event at the State Capitol, South Steps 11am.

This is a great time to get out and show support.

The teabaggers will be there too!...

For some reason they think this is an ACORN sponsored event. In wingnuttia, we are all ACORN now I guess.

1. I don't mind being ACORN - Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now
They have been much maligned - simply because they have been effective in organizing in the communities of poor people. The Republicans hate poor people - so they hate ACORN and play up all this negative voter registration fraud hype. 99% of the voter fraud registration is total bullshit too. But when has the truth ever stopped them from spewing their version of "the truth". The "birther" movement is the same kind of crap.

Is that event on the Obama site a real event? I don't see it on the Travis County Democratic Party site so I'm just wondering. Normally if you have an event at the Capitol you have to reserve the South Steps of the Capitol. If they really want to get a bunch of people out in Austin, the TCDP needs to know about the event too.

Speaking of messaging - the DNC is hitting back with a great ad:

DNC Goes All In: Takes On Birthers, Conservative "Mob" In New Web Ad

Well worth the watch! :kick:

3. definately....ACORN is great
These morons don't even know what ACORN stands for or does. It's like the ACLU. They don't know anything about it, except they've been told to hate it because it's "librul".

Anyway, I'm just trying to encourage attendance by sane people so the teabaggers will look like the marginal kooks they are.

That is a great ad by the DNC! I loved this part in the HuffPo story, "But, with boisterous protests routinely interrupting Democratic town hall events and dominating news coverage, one DNC official put it succinctly: 'We aren't going to back down from this shit."

I wish more elected Dems would realize you can't just ignore or wish these losers away. They have to be challenged, fought and defeated over and over, every time they start yowling.

5. yep!
Dressing well will have the added benefit of setting you apart from the teabaggers. They have an "interesting" fashion sense.

6. Is this a valid event?
The URL doesn't work and I didn't see it on mybarack event calendar, nor on the TCDP website.

I can't find any legit organizer for an event there now. Thanks for the catch Virgina_Dare! The teabaggers are apparently still planning to show up, but who cares there.
