Did ya hear/know that Rick Noriega has been promoted to Colonel?.?.?
This past Sunday I was promoted from Lt. Colonel to Colonel at Camp Mabry in Austin, Texas. Less than 2% of Army officers achieve the rank of Colonel, and it was an honor to have General Stevens preside over the event.

My last promotion occurred while I was at Camp Blackhorse, Afghanistan, on Mother's Day. I dedicated that promotion to my mother, Tommie Noriega. This promotion I dedicated to my father (see him pinning me below), Joe Noriega, former 82nd Airborne paratrooper.

I'm so happy for him, but sad for us. We really could have used his wisdom in the Senate. I still fume every time I hear or see Cornyn doing something stupid to embarrass our state. I also get pissed off that the DC Dems refused to help him get elected, even when Bill and Hillary asked them to help send him funds they declined, instead the DC Dems gave MILLIONS to incumbents who already had a lot of PAC money to work with, now WE have to suffer another 6 years with Cornyn making our state the butt end of jokes and malicious attacks.

Do you think Rick would consider running for Govenor?.?.?

1. I would love it if he did
Considering the others the state party is going to cram down our throats, I would love to have a real DEMOCRAT on the ticket, not a comedian or a Bush-loving "Dem."

6. The Tarrant County Dems are already gearing up suppport for Schieffer
:puke:

At our last CEC meeting a lot of the Party leaders sounded as though he will get ALL their support, without even considering anyone else. These are some of the same people who I tried to convince to just consider Van Os as our new Party chairman. They wouldn't even look at his flyer. Their minds were already made up to support Richie.

I think it is mainly because Schieffer is from Ft. Worth. I don't think anyone deserves that kind of loyalty. Sorry, but I do NOT vote for someone just because they are from my hometown. I vote on issues that matter to me. Progressive issues. Certainly NOT for someone like Schieffer who was Sniffing Bush Butt for such a long long time. Our Party doesn't deserve anymore Democrats like Schieffer. I DO NOT trust him at ALL.

Hey I just came up with a new slogan Schieffer: Sniffing Bush Butt . ......... or ...........

2. Congratulations to Rick Noriega!
I did hear about that and happy and proud of him for being recognized. I really was hoping that he was going to D.C. on the Obama team somewhere.

I don't think Rick will make a run for Governor in 2010.

4. that's great news!
Many congrats to him.

I think many of us would love it if he ran for Gov, and perhaps if enough of us showed our intent to support him, he would consider it? We need some more good Texas Dems on stage.

7. Agree, but whoever runs needs a lot of money
Rick ran a statewide race for Senate and didn't have the money he needed. And without national support it's very hard for a new person to get name recognition as quickly as they would need to. That's why I doubt he's going to sign up for that again.

Schieffer is going to self finance his race.

9. I didn't say he was better than Kinky
Kinky has a very low level of acceptability for Ds. With me it's zero. Kinky is a well known con artist trying to cash in on his pseudo fame.

I know very little about Shiffer

My point was that a good Democrat like Rick Noriega or Leticia Van de Putte is going to have a really hard time making a statewide run since there is no party help. Either at the state level or the national level for Democrats running in Texas. Nobody is dumping millions of dollars of advertising for Texas Democratic statewide candidates.

So it's all up to the candidate to #1) Raise the money themselves #2) Self fund their race.

That's just the state of our state of party politics right now. It sucks.
