Tell me if it is worth the drive. As background, I have a clean driving record (not one ticket ever in 20 years of driving) and no accidents. Last week I drove up to Dallas with the kids to visit the 6th floor museum. I had my cruise control set at 67 in a 65 MPH zone. I missed (shame on me) the sign that reduced the speed to 60 MPH (WannaBe saw it, but she thought I had too) and was pulled over. The patrolman told me I was going 80 in a 60. No way in heck was I going that fast because I had 1. children in the car 2. I have never driven that fast on the freeway. I told him I had recently moved and gave him my closing documents (I carry copies in my purse because I have needed them for various reasons). He shoved them back at me and said he didn't need them, which is okay. He then proceeded to place me at my old address (which could be standard procedure because I haven't switched my license but will before the 30 days are up) and gave me a 20 miles over ticket. No breaks, no nothing.

My question is, seeing as my record is freakishly clean, do you think this is worth the drive (from Houston) to take to court? I really hate to have this on my license and I am positive I was not going 80 in a 60.

TIA and I am still loving it here in Houston.

1. You can't win
Even if you beat the ticket, the cost and inconvenience will be worse than paying the cash.

Just take the defensive driving course to clear your record, and put it behind you.

2. I'd just take defensive driving.
You'll get a break on your insurance too. :D

3. get a ticket lawyer
you might not really save any money doing this...

but since you can't appear in person, they can get the deferred adjudication you need.
they will get probation for you and you won't have to appear.

that's what I would do.

they don't give warnings anymore, because they want the revenue.

also, don't drive in dallas without copy of insurance now, as they will tow your car.
