Goodbye to Texas.
Not sure if any of you caught my post in the lounge a while back. But, I have accepted a promotion with the company for which I work. That promotion will take me to the Seattle area. I will be leaving here on Saturday (11/1). I get a better job, more money and I'm closer to my honey. :)

That said, I will really sad to leave Austin. I'll miss doing stuff with the locals (not that I've done anything in a while). Keep up the good fight down here. You're on the right track.

Now, anyone want to rent or buy a house in North Austin?

2. At least I voted here in Texas.
:)

Thanks, I'm looking forward to the move, but wish I could just go "Bewitched" and twinkle my nose and just be there.

Good luck to you in Seattle. I'm sure you're going to love it!

I wish we had more time for a going away party. You didn't even give us enough time for one last DU breakfast.

We'll miss you too.

I'm sure you voted - right? Ah yes I see you did. Thanks for that last Texas vote!

Have fun!

Sonia

4. Thanks!
I'm sorry I couldn't plan more. I had to take a lot of trips for work, and associated with the new job, so I couldn't figure out how much time I would have.

My parents live near San Antonio, so I'm sure I will make the drive up to see my friends here.

The wife and I love Seattle. Can be a little dreary but is an awfully nice blue place to live. Maybe bluer than Austin.

Don't be a stranger to the Texas forum, ya heah?

16. Vaya con Dios, GOPisEvil
Vaya con Dios (I'm a believer, so I mean it), GOPis Evil, may you have a safe trip to your new home in the Pacific North West. Toast us when we Democrats finally reassume control not only of the Texas House, but also the Texas Governor's Mansion.

22. Good Luck in Seattle, you lucky dog
I'd trade places if I could. I love it up there and have wanted to move there for years now. Ah well maybe some day.

If we didn't have family up here I'd take you up on your offer but renting your house.

Since you're moving up there be sure to visit BC. I spent a month up there in 98. Mostly on Vancouver Island and the smaller islands.

Salt Springs: We stayed in a cottage there that was up on the top of the road but had access to the water, saw a Harbor Seal and purple Starfish.

Denman, stayed at a B&B which was their daughters separate bungalow who was off at school.

Gabriola: We stayed at an interesting Inn, we watched the ferry's from our window. The Island has petroglyph's, and we almost got swept out to sea at one point.:scared:

Quadra: This is way up north by Campbell River. We stayed at a place that looked like bird houses. We visited a museum dedicated to the First Nation people.

If you go there be sure to go to Port Townsend, WA (cool town we stayed there overnight in a converted from a historic building turned into hotel) then you can catch a ferry from Port Angeles into the harbor of Victoria the Capitol of BC. It is so beautiful up there.

Glad I had the opportunity to meet at the DU meetup in Austin back in 04.:hi:

34. OK...I'm envious.....
I LOVE Seattle!! Getting to Seattle with a promotion and proximity to your honey. That's pretty much a trifecta in my book.

With the obvious differences of weather and cuisine, I think that an Austin-to-Seattle transplantation should be workable. They're both wonderfully progressive. You can work on making Seattle weird....
