1. OMG!
I bet you're a nervous wreck! I had 73 show up and I thought I was a wreck.

How did it go? Was it smooth, or as smooth as could be expected considering you were hammered? LOL!

8. It went well!
I only had three mad people! That's less than 1%!

3. 61 at mine... packed into a classroom at a local elementary school
I've read reports from deep-red Colin County of precincts with ~500 people (where there were a handful in 2004).

and another 100 for the other precinct that was also held in the church sanctuary.

There were 3 precincts there total and they were going to have all three of us in this little building. Instead 2 of us were in the sanctuary and the other in the little building. The third probably had around 100 people too.

I was thinking of you Crispini! :) Good thing you moved it into the gym from the auditorium and got the PA system. :)

5. Wow! Good job!
I predicted 40 in your contest, so I guess I didn't get any prize. I predicted that 20 would show up at mine, and I got 123!

I'm drinking heavily, too!

Obama won the majority - woo hoo!

We had some dedicated folks, it was the most amazing thing I have ever seen in my political life in TX!

Oh, and I'm too tired to drink

10. We had 147 at my precinct - and it went on until 11:15pm
The last half-hour was spent nitpicking the jail diversion resolution that crispini shared with everyone here. Someone finally amended the resolution to include more explicit provisions for the mentally ill and mentally disabled.

I think I need a pint.

11. I got you all beat - we had 728 at mine stay
We probably had well over 1,000 in line while the voting was still going on. I got elected as permanent convention secretary and will lead the SD convention delegation for Obama. Obamanos! I delivered my PCT for Obama 67%.

We had CNN there the whole day. It was crazy, but we had fun. PCT 342 rocks!

Congratulations crispini, I knew you could do it!

12. Ye gods!
Were you able to walk out of the convention under your own power, or did someone have to carry you?

728 delegates. Wow. Just wow.

14. 728 attendees who signed in, not delegates
The delegate count was 69 for Obama and 34 for Clinton. We had a great team. I worked with the PCT chair in advance and we had all kinds of contingencies and we still exceeded expectations. I told her we were going to get 1,000 caucus goers and she though we'd max out around 500.

I going to sleep in late tomorrow.

13. There were Eighty show up at my precinct convention,
not sure how many were at the other precincts that shared our building.

Drink one for me you deserve it.:toast:

I have too much of a caucus headache to be drinking.

Having to conduct the precinct with little training I guess I did alright.

17. Oh, Sonia - I wish we had a clone of you there. It was craaazy.
The crowds were a mob, and the election officials told all the early voters to come back to our precinct! So we had dozens of people with NO clue as to where they should be, and I am sure many missed out by the time they found their correct precinct.

It was soooo screwed up, and we became de facto "leaders" just because we had a tiny sliver of a clue.
People would come up and ask "what is a caucus?" Where do I go? What are we doing here? Seriously messed up.

If it weren't for MM, me and a few others, they would have either left or burned the place down.

Here is a part of the mess I related in another thread.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=4895846&mesg_id=4899253

MM was truly heroic.
Democracy does require a bit of prep and patience. Most of these folks were neither prepped nor patient.

And damn, I can't drink.
Can't sleep either, right now.

19. "sliver of a clue" - that's why we're here Bongo Prophet
We are here to learn, to teach others and to make improvements in our party. And we step up to the plate if we have to.

That's the difference between this up and coming new generation of grassroots.

We learned this election season once again what is possible, and next time we'll do even better. And by next time I mean November. In November we take back Texas!

Thank you for helping out with your precinct!

You and MM rock. :yourock:

18. You devils made me do it
I was just going to sign in for my candidate and split. I ended up as permanent secretary. You bastards.

We had a total of 43 in my precinct. 29 for Clinton. 14 for Obama. Clinton got 6 delegates. Obama got 4.

I opted out of the delegate elections, thank BoB.

I had a blast.

:hi:

(I also posted in your GDP thread.)

I saw you running things last night, and wondered if that was you. Nice job of herding the cats!

Thanks for your hard work.

21. 360 at mine
I ended up being the permanent chairman and I did not get home until 10. The caucus itself was done at 9:30 but I had to finish the paperwork and call in the results. It was tiring

22. 244.
in West U. With help from caucus-goers who brought sign-in sheets and clipboards, we got them all signed in by 8:20. Still lots of grumbling. I'm sure many left without signing in.

So as a result I was not elected permanent convention chair, but still had to assist by telling the woman who was how to do everything, what to say. Now I know how Denise Davis felt working for Tom Craddick.

Our caucus went 63-37 Obama, with 20 delgates to him and 11 to her.

And I also got thumped in my re-election bid for precinct chair, 70-28. Sheesh. It's a good thing I don't have much of an ego.
