WOW! Austin: a 24% increase so far in Travis Co voter registration
The 6pm local news just said that more than 100,000 NEW voters have signed up. There's a few hours left, I can't wait to see what the final amount comes to. This is incredible.

1. That IS incredible!
There is a massive, untapped resource of voters in the Southwest. We can really transform the region and create a new majority ruling coalition. Wonderful news!

4. What are you saying here?
That the total number of people on the voter rolls has incresed by a quarter? Or, that the number of new voters signing up is 24% greater than the last cycle?

Either way, a hundred thousand is a lot for a single county.

6. Yes it is a lot
And we earned every one of them. Glen Maxey figured out that Travis, being a liberal bastion of slackerdom, was brimming with potential new voters that have never registered. Never mind that we have 50,000 on the polls already, that have never even bothered to vote even once. So we squeezed and we arm twisted and we popped out 100,000+ more new registrations.

Now comes the hard part, getting them to vote that first time. But we will work as hard on that, as getting them to commit to register. We've come this far, we're not going to let up on them.

We're taking back this state and the first battle happens right here in Travis. Prepare to change colors - visualize a blue state.

5. I can report our total
This is only one of the 12 locations where we did registrations today in Austin.

(Goodwill store on S. Lamar) We had at least 1,002. That's the last count I heard. I think NoPasaran can post a better total if we added a couple more right at midnight. Anyway that rocks!!! We should have done 10,000 today alone in Austin/Travis.

Way to go voter registrars and helpers.

7. Our unofficial total at that location was 1, 011!
There can be no doubt that 12 'Til 12 was the biggest voter registration event in the history of Austin. Hundreds of volunteers took part in the project, building signs over the weekend, putting them out late Sunday night or early Monday, and then the main event from dawn on Monday until the deadline at midnight. Thanks especially to those who spent hours by the side of the road, waving signs and directing people to the registration tables.

12. Report from the Coordinated Campaign - Travis
Democracy Austin Style: A monumental record!

12,424
In a Single Day
Twelve locations until twelve midnight.

A huge thank you to all the great volunteers and helpers!
We processed 12, 424 cards from our voter registration locations... finishing at about 7:30 am Tuesday.

And remember there are thousands more who went to the Tax Offices or mailed them in directly. Reports are that over 4000 came in the mail on Monday alone. (No idea how many thousands have arrived from our door hangers last weekend.)

Without a doubt, we set the record of the most voter registrations ever done in a single day in Travis County history!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gracias.

(And if you didn't help on this, get your butt in gear, 'cuz we got work for you to do to make up for it. LOL)
