David Van Os
Any one notice that he is National Guard Officer Bill Burkett's lawyer? (The guy at the center of the Abilene Kinko's thing)...

3. I met him the night of the Texas Truth Convention.
The Dallas Peace Center just happened to be tabling right next to his table. His mom and dad were manning his table. (the sweetest young/old couple you'd ever wish to meet!)

I did not get to hear much of what many speakers had to say, I was working between the DPC table and Gary Page's tables. I do know that David gave one of the best speeches of the evening! Why do I know this? When you effectively work a convention you are forced to be cognizant of many things happening all around you at once, I was focused mostly on the people right around me, but was listening on some level to speakers. When David spoke, he got all of my attention and I asked who is that guy? Those around me from the Peace Center did not know, I had yet to have had time to meet his Mom and Dad next to me. (Later I did get to meet them and it turns out I used to have a home just a few miles away from the area they have retired to, they truly are a charming couple and it is wonderful to watch them in action with their son).

So my bottom line to everyone here, VOTE FOR DAVID VAN OS! He is awesome and will be a powerful influence on the Court.

5. Same here
I think he is the type of leader we should be cultivating at the grass roots here in Texas.

6. Didn't surprise me one bit
David Van Os is a great guy and he knows Bill Burkett is not lying. Burkett is being attacked by the repuke controlled media and the bu$h history eraser thugs. I think Bill has been very consistent in his story and you get other people supporting his story (like the secretary now). The only ones denying it are the ones that probably committed federal crimes by tampering with bu$h' guard record - people like Albaugh and Hughes. I believe Burkett over those two professional liars any day.

7. I did not know that.
David is a terrific guy!

If anyone would like to donate to his campaign, he can use all the $$$ he can get! Supreme Court candidates typically don't get the kind of financial support that other offices' candidates get, but he has been fortunate to get Dean's backing as well as Richard Morrison's, which has opened up opportunities for exposure at several well-attended events.

If you do donate, and would like to give me credit (since I am registered as one of his grassroots organizers), please pm or email me for my full name to name so you can note it on the donation form.

8. DVO Rocks
I am not familiar with the Burkett incident, but I have heard David Van Os speak. If you can get to any of his campaign events, go and bring a friend! He has been criss-crossing the state. (Use the link below to access his campaign & schedule.)

Our Texas Supreme Court right now is ALL Republican. They like to be unanimous in their decisions: together they consistently overturn jury verdicts for the "little guy" to favor large corporate interests. When they put out a particularly egregious decision, they draft a nice unaniumous Opinion signed "per curiam" (Latin for "by the court"), so that no-one can get pinned with the low-level slime come re-election time.

Having David Van Os's voice on the Supreme Court will be a giant step forward for the people of Texas.

11. GOTV for DVO!
I've heard him speak three times, all different, all great. I'm glad Burkett has him in his corner. I am hoping very much that Texas citizens will ALL have him in our corner on the Supreme Court!

As noted above, a Supreme Court candidate's campaign chronically suffers from lack of funds, so his campaign hasn't been passing out yard signs. I got hold of two window placards, laminated them, got me a stick and some nails and made my own dang yard sign! DIY politics ;)

I encourage folks to talk up DVO when canvassing or phonebanking with Democrats. Some people don't like to vote straight ticket and might skip this race simply because they have no idea how important it is and don't know the candidate. Getting a fearless Democrat like DVO on the court would rock their world and make Texas a better place for everybody except CEOs of insurance companies!
