Clarification: Warner Not Coming to TX
by: Phillip Martin

Wed Jul 12, 2006 at 09:44:36 AM MDT
The Hill had mistakenly reported that Mark Warner was going to come to Texas. I've gotten word from the Forward Together PAC that, unfortunately, he isn't planning on a trip to Texas, though they are hoping to organize some GOTV efforts in the upcoming election cycle.

1. BOR is inaccessible at the moment
and the press release never said he was coming to Texas; it said Warner will 'host a fundraiser for both'.

*puts on flamesuit*

I didn't want to say anything at the time, but using 40 different e-mail addresses to pimp one's candidate doesn't exactly seem to meet the definition of "the power of the netroots in action" to me.

In fact it seems more like a big waste of time, especially in retrospect. So what are you guys going to do with all of that spam? Add "warner" to your filter?

2. That's disappointing
But what the heck we'll march on. I did not use any additional e-mails in my GOTV. I personally sent e-mails to my lists and begged for votes here on DU. I did not promote the idea of voting multiple times with different e-mails. I'm sure it was done, but not on an organized level. As far as I know the Courage campaign was out working to get legitimate votes, one valid e-mail address at a time.

3. There were some folks on one of our mailing lists
that actually seemed proud of the ballot stuffing efforts.

6. Yes that could be Calderón's thug
And for those of you who might wonder how we know he's stuffing the ballot box for Calderón, go read this article at Narco News
http://www.narconews.com/Issue42/article1972.html
Death by Video: Mexico’s Election Fraud Is Coming Undone
Video and Audio Evidence, an Outraged Citizenry, and Panic from the White House Are Converging to Make López Obrador the Next Mexican President

Also on Monday, candidate Andrés Manuel López Obrador released a video in which an election official in Salamanca, Guanajuato (the PAN-dominated state that Narco News has compared to Florida in U.S. post-electoral conflicts due to the high concentration of documented irregularities and outright frauds carried out by election officials there) is caught stuffing many ballots into a ballot box. Captured on video, he sports a blue-and-white shirt (PAN’s campaign and logo colors) and has quite the guilty look on his face as he stuffs one ballot after another into the box. In the Salamanca district, IFE reported that Calderón received 93,062 votes to 23,278 for Obrador. The video – so newsworthy that even pro-PAN TV Azteca broadcast it yesterday – has further fueled the public anger; an image worth a thousand words and a to-be-determined part of seventy thousand votes. (As soon as someone gets it online, Narco News will link to it; in the meantime, here is a photo of the perp caught in the act.)

7. And the effort really wasn't for nothing
Contrary to my first post on this subject, the definition of "big waste of time" doesn't include $5,000 each for Courage and Bell. Or the fundraiser that will be held for John C -- just not in Texas.

(I expected more indignation for my snarky comment. Could y'all try a little harder to be P.O.'d next time?)

:P  :bounce:

8. How dare you belittle the power of the netroots!

How could anyone spend the day doing anything more useful politically than registering five hundred email addresses to vote in Mark Warner's poll? I'll bet you have an autographed poster of Joe Lieberman in your garage!

Feel better now?
