Did you know the Texas forum rocks?
Check out which state forum (by far!) has the most posts.
www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topics&forum=136

Need more evidence? Our forum posts quite often make the Greatest page. We've got one there today.

Furthermore, most of us here are politically active in the real world. Look at all of our precinct chairs, convention delegates, club members, Camp Casey and Democracy Fest alumni, internet & freeway bloggers, campaign volunteers, candidates...

And we're a pretty nice group, to boot! Even in our heated discussions, it ends with a .

This is for all Texas DU'ers. :yourock: :yourock: :yourock:

1. Yes we do rock!
I love the TX Forum too. It really serves our purpose in Texas. I've met many wonderful people across the state through this forum, you included TTC. And if it wasn't for this forum we'd never have gotten to know each other in the real world.

You are also right about how many activists we have in this forum. People who blog, people who put in time writing letters to newspapers, people working on campaigns, people who lobby our State Legislature, and people advocate for consumer rights and the environment. We have our own microcosm of what is good about Texas.

3. I don't really post much
but, when I log on to DU the TX forum is the first place I go.

There's always a lot of good information here, and some pretty nice folks too. :)

5. It's a great forum
I am in total awe of the work you all do. There really is no other forum like it here on DU and for that matter on the "Internets".

6. That is a high compliment, Lithos
The truth is that "Texas" and the "Greatest" are mostly all I look at here.

I began using the forum for dissemination of Democratic events around the state several months ago. I thought it was important to let ourselves know that we're not alone -- in fact, we're active, even thriving here in Deep-In-The-Hearta. And I'm convinced Texas has gotten quite a bit more purple over that time. Much more so than is reported in the corporate media, considerably more so than is known even by liberal, progressive and Democratic-sympathetic potential voters. (I have more to say about this in a future posting.)

I know that many, many members and non-members lurk, that even some of the state's campaign operatives read this forum, and it's because they know that the pulse of the state's progressive activists can be taken here. It's outside the borders of the blogosphere (though many of us practice that particular interstate commerce). And Mrs. Diddie and I have met some wonderful people in Houston and Austin and around the state that we never would've gotten to know had it not been for this little collective.

Much more than a social avenue or even a help desk -- though those are valuable components -- this part of DU serves as a valuable resource for motivating Blue Texans to action offline, which is the highest compliment online activism can receive.

And all of you make it so. *hat tip*

10. Same here, Texas & Greatest are where I go
And the front page, which is pretty much a Greatest of the Greatest. GD and the others are way too busy with a low signal-to-noise ratio.

And that's so true about silent lurkers. How many times have we had a heated discussion where suddenly a candidate or their ally suddenly shows up with a new membership and low post count. We're more popular than we realize.
:D

7. It is a testament to the members of this forum
that it died during the state convention because most of us were there participating in it!!!! Instead of sitting behind our computers crabbing about the state of things, we are out there, boots on the ground, knocking on doors, working our precincts, writing LTTEs & other columns, working on campaigns, trying to turn this state & country around for the better of everyone!!

9. I know it was so sad logging in from Ft. Worth and seeing DU-TX
Stuck in a rut. But we're back and more energized than ever. No damn Tom DeLay or republican controlled SCOTUS is going to keep us down.

:hi: dg!

14. Hey Sonia!
:hi: I've been feeling for a long time since 1994 that the pendulum was going to have to start swinging back our way.
