What time will the important stuff in Ft Worth be over?
I have to coordinate with a spouse for childcare and I need to get a sense of when i can take off and/or make other kid care arrangements if we think it is going to go really late...
Thanks for your help and wisdom..My last state convention was Mondale/Ferrraro so it has been a while..

1. Have you seen the convention schedule?
The State party web site has printable pdf files of the Caucus schedule, as well as the SD meetings which all happen 3-5 p.m. on Friday. On Friday the convention work and speeches are probably over by 9:00 p.m. You can of course leave anytime after your votes in your SD and on Saturday for the chair. You can participate as much or as little as you want.

5. It's going to be a long haul on Saturday
The chair election is very likely to go into a runoff vote. What I hear is that the Statewide candidates are scheduled to speak and that starts before the nominations committee comes out with its recommendation. When that recommendation comes out probably around noon, the first vote will occur. Floor nominations will occur.

There is a very good chance that changes will be made to the process to allow for a paper ballot vote, that the delegates will have to sign. Oh my verified voter paper ballots! While those ballots are counted (each candidate will have a representative present to oversee the count)the speeches continue. If no candidate gets 50% +1 vote, then a runoff ballot will be brought out. Lots of coordinating details are yet to be worked out on the vote process. I fully support a paper ballot here. Hand counts of raised hands in this election, which is predicted to be very tight won't work.

And you have the ability to have a recount - oh my another Democratic core idea.

It could possibly be decided by 3:00 but no guarantees.

Sonia

3. It's all a question of how long it takes to elect the chair on Saturday
And a lot of that is going to depend on the rules that the SDEC adopts for the proceedure---especially if it takes more than one ballot.
