Wear green, sign petition
SNIP
That reminds us more than a little of Gov. Rick Perry and some of his allies in the Texas Legislature. So St. Patrick's Day is as good as any other to sign the petition of one of the two independent candidates seeking to get on the November general election ballot to oust Texas' really bad governor.
Tony Sanchez, the wealthy Valley financier who won the Democratic gubernatorial nomination four years ago before losing to Perry, this week signed Texas Comptroller Carole Keeton Strayhorn's petition, as the candidate herself did a few days earlier.
That left her needing only 45,538 more signatures to be an official candidate for governor. Actually, fewer than that. She has been collecting signatures from disaffected Texans for more than a week, and her campaign expects, in spokesman Mark Sanders' words, "to blow the barn doors off this petition drive."
The state's self-styled "one tough grandma" has "literally thousands of volunteers, including in Victoria, who are going to shopping centers, malls and the spring festivals that are popping up" to ask registered voters to sign Strayhorn's petition, Sanders said.

The editor then does the same for Kinky Friedman and gives contact information for both candidates' petitions. It's sort of an "Anybody But Perry" endorsement.
