Check your new voter registration cards, Texans!

My husband alerted me to this; he got this off his coin forum. I wonder how, with everything now computerized, this could happen. I also wonder how many people this happened to who will be none the wiser until they go to vote.

"the mental giants in Harris County, Texas just mailed us a new voter registration card yesterday.

The card is good from 1/1/2006 through 12/31/2005."

10. Taking photocopies to OUR candidate

It looks like this is a problem that is scattered through Harris County.

Tomorrow at noon, at the HCDP Brown Bag lunch, our speaker will be J. Goodwill Pierre, who is challenging the current Clerk of Courts, Bev Kauffman, who is ultimately responsible for the snafu. How much will it cost to re-issue cards?

FWIW, if cards are not re-issued or if people come to the polls on primary day will cards that they have with the error, I will be quick to (jokingly, of course) say, "Gee, I wonder if I can let you vote with this expired card, the CURRENT Clerk of Courts Kauffman sent out, by mistake." Hell, if my husband and I can even work the polls, being as our voter registration has "expired" and him on the ballot no less. lol I'm loving it!!

It happened to us on the Westside, but not Lyn. And neither of ours are new registrations. I've been registered at this address since 1984! It happened to you on the Southeast side. We need to see just how scattered and what the excuse is and then help Goodwill Pierre use it to his advantage.
