I am a contributor to Scott and White Hospital in Temple.
My affiliation with S&W came after the birth of my first child.
I volunteered to be part of the very first Children's Miracle Network Telethon (they would have used my child in their promotional stuff--cept she wasn't born there, lol).
However...I have many friends who have had their children there, had their sick babies cared for there.
I even played softball on their fastpitch team.
Every quarter for the last twenty years I have received their quarterly news magazine.
I thought I would share this with you.
Scott and White has several camps for sick children that they have offered for more than ten years. Swimming, horseback riding, canoeing, fishing, sports, arts and crafts, etc.
They accept children between the ages of 6 and 15 and if there is space available, the siblings.
They have camps for children with cancer, GI, neurology, mixed diagnosis, bereavement and endocrinology whose funding has been cut for next year.
http://www.sw.org/sw/portal/.cmd/SWActionDispatcher/_pa...I know times and finances are tough, but I just donated in my mother's name for her birthday today.
If you can spare a few bucks and need a worthwhile cause...this is it.
You can call Debbie at 254-724-5705.
Would be cool to see some donations from Democratic Underground in the next quarterly magazine.
