November 13 will be a big picnic from 3-6 PM at Lee Park, 3333 Turtle Creek Blvd in Dallas. Senators Harry Reid, Joseph Biden, and Barack Obama are expected to speak. Everyone I know is going to be there, any other DUers coming out?

6. I dunno...
Price tag is a bit steep. But we love that Harry Reid.

We've also got an annual Fish Fry to consider, too.

All this on top of the Thanksgiving season. *sigh*

10. I had a great time.
It was nice just to see so many Democrats out. I go to things like this all the time now, but I never fail to be excited by a large gathering of Democrats...especially here in Texas. It makes me proud.

First off, we arrived early before the official 3pm start time, and the 2006 victory rally was already getting packed. All told, I'd say at least a thousand people showed up. So I broke out my camera and got busy. Here's a crowd shot:

Musical duo The Ackermans provided the opening entertainment:

Among other speakers, there was an appearance by Texas Senator Royce West, the only Democratic State Senator north of Austin:

Then the Booker T. Washington High School, our local performing arts magnet, showcased its Latin Music Ensemble:

Someone brought up a couple of donkeys to the rally (only one is really visible in this pic):

Finally, the main event. From left to right, Senator Barack Obama, Senator Joseph Biden, Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson, and Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid:

More pics to come. Watch this thread!

12. Thanks for remembering your camera, derby
Obama got the biggest anticipation and cheer, and he did not disappoint. But Biden surprised me with his powerful red-meat speech. He looked downright presidential.

Reid looked like an unassuming man, kinda subdued, but we all know he sure can raise hell!!
