Texas DUers, please tell me my auntie in Houston will be ok
she and her husband are tough old birds, but she suffers from lung cancer and he has emphesyma (yeah, they were like chimneys). They don't want to leave.
Live on the north side of Houston. They say they'll be ok. True?
Bless you all.

1. North Side...probably.
My parents are riding it out there.

2. Yes, they should be OK.
I just finished talking to my buddy in Houston right now (he lives in the Galleria area). He assures me they will be OK. He expects winds of around 60mph and rain. He thinks the power may go out. If they have any medical equipment, hopefully they have battery backup. 911 services are functioning.

3. Projected winds are down
for this area. Just wondering North east or North west side. Does not make much differnce. But the lower end will be toward the west side. From newscasts probably about 4 to 8 inches of rain and winds around 55 to 65 mph. They should be fine.

4. They'll be fine
They are on the weak side of the hurricane, and far enough away from the storm surge to not be in danger. Even if Rita hits them, the winds aren't bad enough to destroy most houses. They're biggest problems will be lack of electricity and water, but it if hits far enough east, they may not even lose power.

Don't sweat it, and don't worry if you don't hear from them. Phones may not work for a while.

6. They'll be fine. PM WolverineDG if they need any supplies brought
in next week. My asshole republican neighbor just promised me I can charge my laptop charged on his generator, so if I can get dialup working, I'll be checking in.

7. I am "riding it out" north of Houston
though I am beginning to wonder if our rather yellow grass will even get a drink out of this
