1. It would be great to get a DU table at Stubb's!
I will check into that if there is interest. I will need an approximate head count though.

2. A table at Stubb's sounds great
I'll be there. And VelmaD suggested and I agree that we should contact our own DUer, Richardo, about getting another round of those DU badges so we can identify each other. Damn I'm thinking we need our own DU banner too.

3. How about lunch on Saturday and/or Sunday?
We have an hour and 15 minutes for "lunch on your own". Maybe we could all go somewhere together.

5. Never been to any of those places...
Any other local DUers been to any of them?

I have a co-worker who's more familiar with that area and I'll ask her tomorrow if she has any recommendations.

6. Juan In a Million on Cesar Chavez
Dario's is good. No on TJ's, no seating and mainly fried food.

My favorite hang out in East Austin if you want Mexican food is Juan in a Million. We would have to drive, but everything in East Austin is close. Cesar Chavez is 1st St. H-T is on 7th so it's only 6 blocks away. We could do a car pool. The restaurant is pretty fast too.

Juan Meza is a good Democrat as well, so let's send him some blue dollars.

A nice little write up in our Austin Chronicle from 2004

8. BBQ on the East Side
One possibility is Hoovers on Manor Road. A bit further but very good as well. Other things on the menu besides BBQ too. Nice digs.

There are also some smaller BBQ joints down 11th Street like
Ben's Long Branch BBQ
900 E 11TH St, Austin, TX.
This one is the paper plates kind of place. Very minimal seating indoors. They do have some outside tables.

11. I'll be at the sign in table that morning...
so I'm likely to see most of the DUers and maybe can help coordinate. PM me and I'll give you my cell number so you can call or message me about lunch if you don't get in early enough to run into me at the sign in.

12. Here's a coupla maps of the area with restaurants listed
Edited on Tue Jun-14-05 02:17 PM by PDittie
If anybody knows which are the good ones -- or the not good ones-- speak up:

Google Map

Yahoo Map

Use Zoom In in both maps.

These not only show H-T and surrounding area clearly but also list Stubb's (our Sat. night event location) and Nuevo Leon (the Van Os fundraiser Friday night). So print them out so you don't get lost.
