Anorexic student denied valedictorian title
Some times it is tough to be from Texas. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7884243/?GT1=6542 A high school student is being denied honors as valedictorian because she was treatment for the first couple of weeks of her junior year. The school district is punishing this girl for being sick. The rule is to prevent people from transfering in and that was not the case here. There is a poll that is worth DUing on whether this girl should be named valedictorian. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7885754/

2. Was that suppose to be funny..........
if so, you missed the mark. You should look up the definition of anorexia. You pegged the wrong disease and it still isn't funny.

4. Hey, did you hear the one
about the kid who had to miss class because of chemo treatments for leukemia?

Anorexia is a deadly disease. I don't personally know anyone who has suffered from it, but I know when something is is NOT a joking matter. We obviously don't share the same sense of humor and I see no reason to not call it like it like I see it.

8. truly sad
Isn't this child really being left behind. Karen Scherr manages to keep her grade point average up even while hospitalized, and they strip her of her valedictorian title. Unbelievable. Even the young man who was supposed to win the title after they took it from Karen says he doesn't want to win it this way.

I hope this school changes their mind and makes a civilized and educated exemption to this rule.

9. The young lady has decided not to sue
I think that the she has a great claim under the ADA and under federal laws. A group offer to represent her for free and she passed up the opportunity. She is accepting a honorary award in lieu of being the real valedictorian http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/metropolitan/3186938 This young lady has a tremendous amount of class.

10. When you said she has class
you are so right. She showed class than she obviously didn't learn at school. I hope her life moves forward without glitches, with much health and that she will be a inspiration for countless others.

Her family, classmates and friends must be so proud of her. Too bad her school can't see beyond their noses.
