The time is right, let's do this. I've been contacting organizations that can help and will continue to do so. If you have any ideas, please let me know.

Oh and we've registered a domain name for a website already!

1. Kick.
Is no one interested in any way? You don't have to go to DC to help.

2. kicking this for you BB. It is one awesome idea!!!!! You totally rock
I have good coverage now, but what Mr Yellowdog and Miss Yellowpuppy have sucks ..I can't cover her because she isn't a fulltime student now.
But I work for a HUGE company that does OK by us.

BUT I have BEEN uninsured and it is the pits. Also I have worked in the medical insurance field for many years and know how trifling those policies can be, esp the "self funded" company plans.

Someone provided a link for NASE..National Association for the Self Employed....you need to contact them if only to shame them for the absoloutely horrible stuff they market to their members. I used to pay those claims and honestly there were times I would be on the verge of tears when I would process them. Some of their stuff is pure crap; if you were in a really big situation and the catastrophic portion kicked in, then you would be covered fairly well but for normal stuff, BAH.

Basically they write the stuff to make money. Period. Paragraph. End of story. So they deserve to be shamed into seeing what their support of for profit insurance companies is doing to small business operators everywhere.

I will never forget how furious I was when we were called into meetings on Christmas EVE, no less..featuring an attorney, the manager of our office, and a couple of lobbyists from the insurance people and subjected to an hour and 1/2 of garbage, claptrap, balderdash, gutter rubbish and lies about what the Clinton Health Plan was going to do to the industry and OUR JOBS!! Didn't they get the memo that if a large pool was formed to cover the employed uninsured that somebody has to administer the plan? Somebody has to process the claims? Somebody has to service the phone calls? Answer the letters? Fix the errors?

JEEZ!!! I don't work there anymore and I just realized you hit a RAW NERVE with this one.

I won't be able to get to DC but I damn sure can get to Austin, if we do a 51 capitals (or 52 if you count Puerto Rico and DC) deal, or if we do something in the METROPLEX....duh I live here.

This is one of the greatest things I have seen on this site EVER.

PS looking forward to getting to meet you on June 4, if you can make it for dinner that night.

3. I'm interested!
I don't know if I could afford to go to DC but maybe depending on the cost. My husband is self-employed and we have been uninsured for years. What can I do to help?
