Dem Fest: Old 97's in New Braunfels, Friday & Sat.

Hey ya'll, it looks like kick-ass alt-country rockers the Old 97's will be playing a couple of shows in New Braunfels the weekend of Dem Fest. Anyone up for a GREAT show? I'm telling you, these guys totally rock the house. I think I'm definitely going on Friday and might try for Saturday as well, depending on how late the Dem Fest Saturday program runs.

Very cool lawyer guy with a very long ponytail. He and his wife were there. This was sometime after the primaries-- last June maybe? Must be Rhett's dad I guess! He didn't say anything about it!

I was going to invite them to the HAlloween party (got their address and everything), but I just ran out of time to get things done, and get extra people invited. Next year I'll make sure to get em on the list, and maybe Rhett and the boys can play a set in the backyard! shah right....:eyes:

Tickets are $15. Right now there are about three or four Dallas non-DU'ers that are in. How about everyone else? They are there on Friday and Saturday but since the big dinner is Saturday night we're going Friday.

Also, GET THIS -- Bobby Bare Jr.!!! Will be opening! I'm SO EXCITED! I :loveya: BBJ! This ROCKS!

Doors open at 8, so we're probably going to miss the evening welcome at DemFest, but for Old 97's and BBJ, I'm totally up for that.

Who else is in? Everyone who's interested should plan on getting their tickets the day they go on sale, I think. We should probably work out a carpool or two from Austin.

Hey, when is everyone else going down? I'll get there on Thursday night and I'm leaving Sunday after the blogger's breakfast.

We're coming in maybe Thursday night, but maybe also Friday (since the first thing I MUST go to is the Blogger's Caucus at 5pm).

I love Gruene and Gruene Hall but don't know the Old 97's.

I'd hate to completely miss the Fest kickoff, though:

I had to run a cymbal stand down to my husband gigging there one night. He called me 30 minutes before they started playing and by the time I got there they were 20 minutes into the first set.
