Phil King wants to ban human cloning
King had a slide show! It was like an 8th grade biology class except not informative at all! King’s bill purports to be on everything you always wanted to know about embryos, fetuses, oocytes and somatic cells but were too afraid to ask.

King: “The dilemma comes on whether or not you believe this is a human life at the embryo level… that’s a very difficult question for me.”

Here, King turns toward Rep. Wong, still reeling from the fact that she has essentially given up her seat in the House.

“Martha, you’re an adult, and before you were an adult, you were an adolescent, and before that, you were a child, and a fetus, and an embryo. At this point, if you had been an embryo used in stem cell research, had that embryo been destroyed it would’ve destroyed … Martha.”

Martha looks uncomfortable. And, really, can you blame her?

I'm not sure how I feel about human cloning in general. I think I could support a bill that would ban cloning the Texas Legislature, though.

1. I second that ban human cloning of the Texas Legislature
Frankly I think the decision should be left up to the individual. Phil King should definitely not clone himself. One of that little rat bastard is all this world needs. His DNA would be useless on so many levels. Same can be said of Tom DeLay. So I'm all in favor of not cloning anyone who doesn't want to be cloned. You know this is all about killing stem cell research under the guise of playing God.

Funny how they don't think in-vitro fertilization is playing God. By their definition of life these little babies are frozen. How cruel. Either it's life or it's not which is it Phil? Phil says frozen embryos are just omelet fixings. Go ahead and whip you up a batch today.

King: "This bill does not prohibit the taking of an embryo created through fertilization. All it does is say you cannot create an embryo through asexual reproduction, human cloning. All those frozen embryos out there? They could still be used. They can go down and create all the embryos they want by mixing sperm and egg in a bowl."

To extend the ban to former members of the Legislature. Humanity should never face the threat of another Arlene Wolgemuth!

2. Phil King is the poster child for the anti-cloning crowd.
He's just freaky. :scared:
