ONLY 38% said YES! According to a poll by the Houston Chonicle!

45% said someone new was needed.

4. Doesn't matter, they have republican owned electronic voting machines

in Delay's district. And still a long way to go before election 2006---lots of things will happen...The republicans will attack with the powerful corporate medias help and Delay will cruise to another term with the help of those wonderful, uncanny electronic voting machines.

Democrats have had double digit leads the night before the elections in areas where they use electronic voting machines and the next day...the republican candidate is the winner.

5. Richard Morrison, a political unknown, ran a good race
Richard Morrison, a political unknown without a great deal of support from the party, ran a good race against Delay. Delay had to run negative adds against Morrison and actually campaign in his district. Delay may be weaker now than in many years.

7. I sent Morrison a couple of donations last year...
Edited on Sun Apr-03-05 05:38 PM by LaPera
Even though I'm from & live in California. And just this week, I received a Morrison mailer asking for a donation for the 2006 election.

The way I see it... the republicans with their voting machines (they own them) don't have to win by more than a few votes, just as long as the machines count the republican the winner...

The closer the better for the republicans, keeps the Dems thinking they have a chance, and not focused on the machines...ala Morrison

If there's any district in the country where Bush and the republicans want to keep hold of, its Delay's Texas district...and the republicans have and own the machines to ensure it!

8. I attended one of his fundraisers and contributed also
Morrison is a nice guy (he is an environmental lawyer) but was not a really strong candidate. The party did not really support Morrison heavily but thanks to Howard Dean and some of the bloggers, Morrison ran an okay campaign.

Delay is vulnerable. Morrison may be able to beat him or maybe we can find a stronger candiate in the district for 2006. In any event, Delay needs to go.
