Election lawsuit judge assigned

A visiting judge has been assigned to hear the Kaufman County Commissioners Precinct 3 election contest.

Judge Oswin Chrisman will hear the case, according to Judge Howard Ovard, Administrative Judge of the Dallas District. Chrisman is a Dallas attorney and retired judge.

From 1969 to 1982, Chrisman served as a judge in the probate, family and civil courts of Dallas County.

Question to Dallas: Anything obviously partisan here? My google search shows Chrisman was a recent leader of Baylor alumni and part of the victorious dump-Sloan movement. He also appears to have a solid record as judge and mediator. It sure took a while to find a judge in this case.

According to a quick search at the Texas Ethics Commission, Chrisman gave $100.00 to Republican candidate for Dallas Family District Court Beth Maultsby. Maultsby's Democrat opponent Dennise Garcia went on to become 'Dallas County's first elected Latina judge.'
