...WHEREAS, dearly loved by his staff and colleagues alike, Representative Mumpower

him for sporting his standard attire of shorts, hot orange pants, or “metrosexual” pink shirts and
ties; and...

Metrosexual - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metrosexual
Metrosexual, a portmanteau of metropolitan and heterosexual, is a neologism of the 2000s one definition of which is a man (especially one living in a post-industrial, capitalist culture) who has a strong concern for his appearance or a lifestyle that displays attributes stereotypically associated with homosexual men, although he is not homosexual.

Debate surrounds the term's use as a theoretical signifier of sex deconstruction and its associations with consumerism.

Evolution of the word

The term originated in an article by Mark Simpson<1> published on November 15, 1994, in The Independent. Simpson wrote:
Metrosexual man, the single young man with a high disposable income, living or working in the city (because that’s where all the best shops are), is perhaps the most promising consumer market of the decade. In the Eighties he was only to be found inside fashion magazines such as GQ, in television advertisements for Levis jeans or in gay bars. In the Nineties, he’s everywhere and he’s going shopping.

The term greatly increased in popularity following Simpson's 2002 Salon.com article "Meet the metrosexual", which identified David Beckham as the metrosexual poster boy. The advertising agency Euro RCSG Worldwide adopted the term shortly thereafter for a marketing study, and the New York Times published a Sunday feature, "Metrosexuals Come Out"; the story trickled into local news outlets across North America.

Simpson's Salon.com definition is more nuanced than the term's common use today.
The typical metrosexual is a young man with money to spend, living in or within easy reach of a metropolis – because that's where all the best shops, clubs, gyms and hairdressers are. He might be officially gay, straight or bisexual, but this is utterly immaterial because he has clearly taken himself as his own love object and pleasure as his sexual preference. Particular professions, such as modeling, waiting tables, media, pop music and, nowadays, sport, seem to attract them but, truth be told, like male vanity products and herpes, they're pretty much everywhere.

For some time now, old-fashioned (re)productive, repressed, unmoisturized heterosexuality has been given the pink slip by consumer capitalism. The stoic, self-denying, modest straight male didn't shop enough (his role was to earn money for his wife to spend), and so he had to be replaced by a new kind of man, one less certain of his identity and much more interested in his image – that's to say, one who was much more interested in being looked at (because that's the only way you can be certain you actually exist). A man, in other words, who is an advertiser's walking wet dream.<2>

Ramsey For Governor Campaign Announces First Congressional District Leadership Team
by TN PRESS RELEASE CENTER on MARCH 11, 2010
http://www.tnreport.com/2010/03/ramsey-for-governor-campaign-announces-first-congressional-district-leadership-team/
Press Release from Ron Ramsey for Governor, March 10, 2010:

(NASHVILLE): Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey is proud to announce today his team of community leaders from across Tennessee’s First Congressional District as his campaign gains momentum building grassroots support.

“Having strong leadership in East Tennessee has always been part of a winning formula when running for governor. I’m proud to have so many people who have been with me over the years standing with me today as I run to be the next governor of the great state of Tennessee,” Ramsey said.

Members of the Ramsey for Governor First Congressional District Leadership Team all have demonstrated exceptional leadership capabilities and extensive community involvement in their respective counties. Members include:

Northeast Tennessee Special Advisor – Representative Jason Mumpower

State Representative Jason Mumpower joins the Ramsey Campaign as a special advisor for political strategy within the First Congressional District. Mumpower, no stranger to hard work, serves as the leader of the first Republican majority in the state house in modern Tennessee history, created in large part due to Mumpower’s hard work and political prowess that delivered for the GOP in the last several elections. A lifelong Bristol resident, Mumpower got his start in state politics at the young age of 23 when he first ran for the State House to fill Ron Ramsey’s seat as he moved to the Senate. Mumpower is also no stranger to statewide campaigns, having served as an area field director for Congressman Van Hilleary’s 2002 and 2006 statewide campaigns.

In other words, he's a girlie-man. :P

As for Ramsey, I'm most definitely crossing over to vote against him in the Repig primary. He's the most ridiculously dishonest of the three stooges running for the Scum nomination and therefor, the most dangerous if elected.
Haslam is a lamer and Wamp is riddled with dirt.
I think it would be easier for McWherter to win against those two than Ramsey.

Metrosexual.....LOL

2. Origin of Ron Ramsey's metrosexual campaign boots
Newsroom: On the Campaign Trail With Ron Ramsey:
Boot leather

The Farm Bureau visit came in the middle of a day that also included stops for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at a newly opened Sears store, a classic campaign exercise in hand shaking and conversing with local officials, an appearance before the staff of a local hospital and an end-of-the-day rally at the county Republican headquarters, where Ramsey delivered a partisan stump speech anchored on federal government faults.

At every event Ramsey was asked about his boots, featured in TV ads where the candidate promises to "give Washington the boot."

He regularly hikes up a pants leg to display the boots, a gift from House Republican Leader Jason Mumpower in 2005 after Ramsey became the state's first Republican in 140 years to serve as lieutenant governor and speaker of the Senate.

The soles of the leather cowboy boots, embossed with a state seal, have been replaced twice, he said.

While the boot has become a general theme, Ramsey also has his legislative specifics that are matters of specialized interest.
