Election reform presentation in Crossville, Thursday, 10/13, 4:15-6:00 pm
This coming Thursday, Democracy for Cumberland County is sponsoring my presentation on election reform in Tennessee. I will draw on my recent presentation at the National Summit to Save Our Elections in Portland, Oregon. Like that presentation, I will speak for about 45 minutes and then leave the remaining time for questions and discussion.

My audience will be both public officials (including county election commissioners) and members of the general public in Cumberland County (Crossville, TN). We expect between 30-60 people to be there. If there are any Orange State DUers in the Crossville area who might want to attend my presentation, it is scheduled for 4:15-6:00 pm, Thursday, October 13, at the Art Circle Library Annex in Crossville. That building is on First Street, not far from the county courthouse, and is part of the library complex.

I will draw heavily on the recent close (and unrecountable) special elections in Memphis and will review a lawsuit there that argues that paperless electronic voting is unconstitutional in Tennessee. If there are issues that you want me to cover, please post them here or PM me. I look forward to meeting other Orange State DUers there.

1. Are you aware of HR 3910?
From: guruoo2 <guruoo2@........>
Date: Sat Oct 8, 2005 12:03 am
Subject: ActionAlert: HR 3910 would make paper trail vote meaningless
> It's about the Feeney bill and it's urgent. This bill is as dangerous as the Patriot Act and they're trying to silp it through unnoticed.Everybody in the 200$ ER&D forum, please go here right away and comment, click and NOMINATE! http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x4999575 And keep going back to kick it and add comments. Comments are essential to keep new people reading the thread and nominating it.
>
> Then send the letter below (in your own words or not) to everybody you know. This could just make the difference to keep the Feeney voter disenfranchisement (but give 'em neutered VVPBs) bill sailing through Congress unnoticed. If you haven't already signed the VoteTrust petition, the link is there.

> A few days ago, VoteTrustUSA ( http://votetrustusa.org ) issued an
> action alert in support of Rep. Rush Holt's Voter Confidence and
> Increased Accessibility Act (HR 550) as written. Now we have learned
> that a new bill, HR 3910, introduced by Rep. Tom Feeney of Florida,
> would render voter verified paper records (VVPR) effectively
> meaningless, while jeopardizing the ability of millions of Americans
> to exercise their right to vote at all. Its paper record requirement
> lets the States decide whether the VVPR is used as anything more than
> an expensive and meaningless placebo, while its Voter ID section

2. yes, I am. I'm also aware that Tom Feeney (that crooked weeney) ...
... is the biggest vote-stealer in Congress. I'm fortunate to know Clint Curtis personally so I am very aware of Feeney and his lack of any moral fiber whatsoever.

If you're near Crossville, please join me for my presentation on Thursday.

3. I won't be able to make it ...
myself, but I've forwarded the info to
knoxdems list, and to everyone on my mailing list that
live within the vicinity.
I'm also going to see if I can get this posted as an announcement
on the DFT website as well.
