I wish we'd hear something soon about his condition. As I said in another thread, I used to work with an attorney whose husband is Johnson's regional legislative rep for Rapid City; I'm going to call her tomorrow and try to find out what's really going on. She and her husband hate Thune (they've met him several times since Johnson's trying to work with him, she says he's really "creepy" and a credit hog).

What are you thinking will happen if Mr. Johnson can't continue his work?

Wow...just reading that back was not a very nice thing of myself to say, and quite frankly, it does'nt matter what happens, as long as Mr. Johnson is able to work through this because that is all that matters.

3. Will Rounds appoint Janklow, do ya think?

I'm hoping that because Johnson was taken down with a medical condition, as opposed to a corruption scandal or fondling minor-age pages, Rounds will appoint Johnson's buddy Daschle back to fill his seat. Daschle and Johnson go way back and have similar viewpoints, if I recall.

But Rounds is a Republican Christian fanatic, and he might see this as God's will or some shit and appoint some Republican loyalist.

Johnson was ranked the 4th most liked Senator out of the whole bunch. I'd really like to see him back on his feet.

Hell, if you look around at some of my other posts you'll see I wanted Johnson to run for president!

4. Oh, God, perish the very thought!

Janklow got off WAY too easy, he should still be in jail and he should NEVER have had his law license reinstated, EVER. I think the good people of this state have also had enough of him, and he's quite unpopular now.

And I've just learned that, contrary to what the clueless idiot Sec of State Chris Nelson has been running around telling the media, state law requires a special election in these circumstances, and NOT an appointment by the governor. That's what happened with Janklow, remember, when he resigned from Congress a special election was held and that's when Stephanie Herseth first got into Congress.

5. Janklow need to get about 5 years, IMHO

But Johnson is a Senator. Janklow was a Representative. That difference may mean something.

God, I hope Daschle can come back if Johnson doesn't feel well enough to continue.

And I wanted Johnson to run for President, too...
