Obama campaign leases office space next to Greenville GOP headquarters

Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama and the Greenville GOP are nowhere near arm-in-arm, but they are side-by-side.

Quantcast

Of all the empty storefronts in strip malls in Greenville, Obama's campaign has leased an office next door to the Greenville County Republican Party's headquarters.

Obama's is at 402 N. Pleasantburg Drive and the GOP is at number 404.

"The Obama campaign is trying to rain on our parade by renting the office next door to the Republican Party," said Samuel Harms, the Greenville Republican chairman who promised "the last laugh when South Carolina overwhelmingly votes for McCain/Palin."

16. But the biggest laugh, Sammy, will be when Obama gets over 270 EVs,
We gain another 15 - 20 seats in the House and win the following Senate seats to give us 61 - 39 (after throwing that snake traitor Joe Lieberman out):

MN
KY
MS
GA
AK
CO
NH
NM
NC
OR
VA

Suck on that, your Republican piece of trash!

2. I think this is really funny, but are you telling me that Obama REALLY
believes he has a chance in SC? I lived there for 6 years. I mean no disrespect to Barack but I just can't see that ever happening!

3. Really?
I'm sorry if this comes off stereotypical, I'm aware they have a large african-american population. Most people I've known from South Carolina thru the military where all against Bush. One was a former Marine who was stationed at DC. He met Bill Clinton at the White House(he was one of the ones that just stands there) he recalls Clinton coming up to him "Hello Marine" He was also on the color guards when the MCI Center opened plus deployed to Iraq 2 times going on a third tour.

I just thought Obama had a chance at a toss up.

11. There's a large AA population in Greenville & Columbia, but the rest of the state is
still fighting the damn civil war! I lived just outside of Greenville, between Greenville & Spartanburg in a town named Greer. I can't speak for anyone in the military, but the people I lived near and the people I worked with and interacted with wouldn't vote for ANY DEM. ever!

14. Ok Marlboro County
Part of the Solid South, the county used to vote overwhelmingly Democratic, giving 100% of its vote to the party in 1924.<4>

That explains it.

4. He's forcing McCain to spend money in SC.
They just want to make it really close. If they lose SC, so what, they were already going to lose.

However, making McCain waste money defending a state he should be ahead by at least 15 points, instead of the current 6, means less money for other states.

17. And keeping the Republicans honest in that area too with Obama next door.
A bit difficult to pull something off if your opponent can see an uptick in activity right from their window.

5. I think this is really funny,
I think they held onto slavery as long as they could too.
They should be wondering why there are so many empty storefronts. That is Bush/McCain's fault.

15. So what? Democrats and Republicans USED to be collegial
My mother used to run the booth at our county fairs for the Dems, and we were generally side by side with the Republicans. And we were all quite friendly.

Are the South Carolina Republicans saying that they can't summon plain old civility?
