South Carolina Responds to Genocide --- Rally --- Darfur Action Group of South Carolina


The rally at 2:00pm on October 6 th at the State House in Columbia, SC will send a powerful message that ending the Darfur genocide is important to the people of South Carolina. Here's why:


1) Multiple candidates for President from both political parties have been invited to participate.


2) The media coverage will be intense.


3) Our governor, congressmen, and members of our state legislature fully support our efforts


4) The Presidents of our state's colleges and universities, as well as student leaders, are working with us to ensure a large attendance by students, faculty, and staff.


5) The State Superintendent of Education is providing lesson plans about the Darfur genocide and our rally to over 0,000 secondary school teachers in our state.


6) We have tremendous support from the faith‐based community. Each week, the Christian Action Council sends mails to 3500 churches throughout our state with information about the rally.


7) The support from the African‐American community is overwhelming. The NAACP, members of the Legislative Black Caucus, presidents of the historically Black colleges, and leaders of the faith‐based community are working with us o ensure a huge turnout.


8) The State newspaper has committed to major coverage of the event.


9) All television stations in Columbia will cover the event. They will also broadcast our public service announcement, which includes notable personalities urging attendance.
This level of support mobilized in a single state about this issue is unprecedented. We have a responsibility to respond to this unique opportunity. Please join us for this historic event as "South Carolina Responds to Genocide".
