Santorum booed, jeered at Cheney State University
http://www.centredaily.com/mld/centredaily/news/local/8631343.htm

THORNBURY - U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum was greeted with boos and turned backs Saturday while giving a commencement speech at Cheyney University, a historically black college.

"I know my selection as commencement speaker was not met with unanimous approval," Santorum said.

<snip>

Santorum encouraged students to rebel against today's self-centered culture, that says "if it feels good, do it," Santorum said. Instead, he said, the motto should be "if it's good for others, do it."

The quiet protest turned to a chorus of boos and jeers at several points, particularly when Santorum focused on family values and the percentage of black children born out of wedlock.

What a sanctimonious ass. 2006 can't come fast enough.

13. Cheney State University is the oldest historically black college
in the U.S.

Jim Vance, the senior anchor of the 6:00 news on the NBC affiliate in Washington, DC -- WRC-TV -- is a Cheney State graduate.

3. Wow
The quiet protest turned to a chorus of boos and jeers at several points, particularly when Santorum focused on family values and the percentage of black children born out of wedlock.

You know, if you're a super-white, ultra-conservative cracker, the best way to get a black audience on your side is to opine on how many black children are born out of wedlock.

6. That's easy. He was thinking
"I'm white, they're black, so I am superior to their poor little misguided selves."

Piece of garbage.

11. Well the guy IS a U.S. Senator...
I mean thats fairly prestigious to have a U.S. Congressman to come to your commencement. Unfortunately the senator also happens to be a racist thug.

Its the same with Dubya. Imagine how fortunate it is to have the most powerful leader in the world to come speak at your event -- only its Dumbya... :eyes:

5. I wonder if he told them to stop shoplifting
What a disgusting pig. Who the Hell invited a racist pig like that to speak before a graduation, a time of hope, optimism and anxiety?

Graduation speeches are supposed to congratulate the students, not the idiot speaker and his dumbass party's racist ideology.

Surely the choice of speaker was meant to be a joke by someone.

10. No idea
But someone needs to have their job severely threatened, if not removed, for something like that. It could not have been well-intentioned.

20. yeah, where the hell
does a REPUBLICAN of Santorum's stripe think he gets the right to criticize people for being "self-centered"? Hello? Republicans? The people who argue that the government is "stealing your money" and "wasting it on the poor and minorities"?
