State House candidate apparently commits suicide - Dem Ambridge

A candidate for the state House of Representatives apparently committed suicide at his home in Ambridge today.

Sam Kovolenko, 46, a Democrat from Ambridge, was on the ballot in the 16th District in today’s primary, a district that takes in Ohio River towns in Allegheny and Beaver counties.

County Coroner Wayne Tatalovich said Kovolenko was found dead at his home on Maplewood Aveune from an apparent gunshot wound to the neck from a rifle.

Tatalovich said Kovolenko was found in his bedroom by his wife shortly after 2 p.m. today. Tatalovich said Kovolenko died sometime after 7 this morning.
