We're recruiting volunteers for literature drops, yard signs (both for hosts on heavily trafficked streets and for a crew to deliver them on October 2), phone banking, and handing out literature at polling places on election day.
Marilyn Zilli (Allyson Schwartz's chief of staff and a bright, caring lawyer who's toured Francophone Africa on behalf of the U.S. State Department) is running for an open seat to replace Patricia Vance (R), who's running for the state senate. The Republican primary was contested, and the endorsed, far-right candidate won to replace the moderate, much-loved R Rep. Vance.
In this 2-1 Republican district (Cumberland County: East Pennsboro, Hampden, and Silver Spring townships, Camp Hill, and a ward in Wormleysburg), Marilyn's polls show her only 3% behind. Her issues are maining high-quality public education in this area, "smart growth" (as opposed to suburban sprawl, increased traffic, etc.), and improving health care and access to it. See
