Specter vs Sestak Senate race: It’s all tied up
Friday, May 07, 2010

The primary battle between challenger Joe Sestak and incumbent Arlen Specter for the Democratic U.S. Senate nomination is tied at 43 percent, according to the Muhlenberg College/Morning Call tracking poll released Friday.

Specter had led 45 percent to 40 percent just a day earlier, although the plethora of polls released in the last week have all shown the 7th District congressman closing fast on what had been a double-digit gap.

The poll surveys 400 likely Democratic voters and has a margin of error of 5 points. Muhlenberg is releasing a new poll on the race until May 16, two days before the primary.

1. Any result that removes Magic Bullet Boy from the Senate is a positive outcome.
Whether he loses this month or in November, we will be much better off with him gone.

Hopefully, this trend continues through Primary Day.

2. This only one lousy poll. Specter has been laying low waiting for Sestak to send it all. Now the fun
begins. This is not over yet although Sestak people are trying to paint it that way. It has moved closer I will admit, but that is because we see nothing but back to back Sestak commericals. Specter is just gearing up-expect him to go in for the kill. Sestak is a weak candidate and offers nothing to PA or the Democrats. His followers are so bent on getting rid of Specter they can't see that what they are doing is hurting our chances in November and beyond.

3. If this is such big news and this poll is so important, why is it both of my big local papers
don't mention a word about it? Could this poll-coming out a day after Sestak's new ad, and supposedly doing what his camaign was hoping it would do be all hype and have very little substance? It is amaizing to me, that Richard Mellon Scaife-a stauch Republican who hates Specter and has contributed the maximum amount to Sestak, does not even mention it in his paper-The Tribune Review. And, dito for the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. Not even a a little mention. Makes me wonder if this poll was all cooked up.
