WASHINGTON (AP) — Democratic Senate hopeful Rep. Joe Hoeffel launched his first campaign ad Tuesday, aiming to introduce himself to statewide voters who know little about him.

The 30-second spot, "Stands," is airing in all six of the state's major TV markets. It describes Hoeffel as a protector of Social Security and Medicare, and takes aim at the Bush administration's economic and foreign policies.

Hoeffel is challenging four-term Republican Sen. Arlen Specter in the Nov. 2 election.

"Hoeffel's top priority will be creating jobs and improving health care," says an announcer as images show Hoeffel talking to factory workers, working at a desk and on the campaign trail.
