Pennsylvania September 29 election? Huh?

I just received the following email. I know of no election on September 29, but maybe I'm just ignorant. Anybody know anything about this??

Hey Bob -

I hope you are aware of a special election to replace Rob Wonderling as your state senator coming up on September 29. Senator Wonderling has resigned his seat to become CEO of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce.

Your Democratic candidate is Anne Scheuring and she needs your help over the next week to turn out voters. Anne has been a community organizer for years (where have we heard that before?), volunteers on a dozen boards and committees and was recently elected to Lansdale borough council.

Signup now to help Anne's very brief campaign!!

This is our chance to set the tone for hundreds of municipal elections coming up on November 3 and for next year when the entire legislature and one third of the state senate will be up for re-election. I don't know about you, but I'm sick to death of the games the Republican controlled senate is playing with the state budget and will be working hard to flip as many seats as possible next year.

Don't miss this chance to start the ball rolling!! Get out in the streets, or get on the phone and let the voters know they can help change happen NOW! The Anne Scheuring campaign is making that easy, so sign up today to get on a shift this weekend! Tell them DFA sent you!

Or call now to get the location of an office or phonebank near you at 215-631-4381.

Thanks in advance for your help!

PS. Here's Anne's plan to clean up Harrisburg and return the commonwealth to fiscal responsibility:

1. No More Automatic Pay Increases - The legislators in Harrisburg can't even pass a budget - why should they get a raise? Anne will work to end the wasteful automatic pay raises.

2. No More Leasing State Vehicles at Taxpayers' Expense - Too many legislators are using state vehicles for personal use and sticking taxpayers with the bill. Anne will push for limits on the use of these vehicles and require full disclosure of usage.

3. No More "Undocumented Expenses" - In Harrisburg, legislators aren't even required to show expense receipts to collect thousands of dollars in reimbursement checks! Anne will lead the effort to require legislators to post their expenses and reimbursements publicly.

4. No More Backroom Politics - The Bonusgate scandal proves we need tough new ethics laws. Anne believes any legislator who violates the public trust should lose their pensions and benefits, pay severe fines and serve mandatory jail time.
