Track Sestak absenteeism on new web link noshowjoe.org
Edited on Mon Aug-24-09 07:10 AM by PADEMJES12
Hey guys, I discovered this new web site which enables everyone to track Congressman Sestak when he is
AWOL from his duty to vote in Washington DC on critical issues that affect Pennsylvanians. The new
site allows us to email Congressman Sestak and urge him to...well... basically start showing up to vote.
Currently, he has the worst attendance record in the Pennsylvania Congressional delegation and has the
13th worst voting record out of 404 members of Congress.

Of course, not voting is nothing new for Rep. Sestak. However, as Pennsylvanians we do know that in order
to achieve progress, we actually have to have someone to show up and vote for us in Congress. You should not run
for an elected official position if you are not going to show up. If we have a Representative that does not show
up to vote...thus, we can be curtailed from achieving the progress we need.

The site also enables us to see what critical votes Rep. Sestak missed. And, since this is such an important issue to
Pennsylvanians, I will be updating all future missed votes and actually what they were here on DU for everyone as we head
out of the break. Remember, no vote should be taken so lightly as such, that one feels it is not important enough to show up
for!

1. here was the article in the paper
Here's NoShowJoe.org, the new website the Specter campaign has launched to track Joe Sestak's attendance record in Congress. From a Specter campaign press release:

Asked in an MSNBC interview Monday about his status as the Pennsylvania Congressman with the worst attendance record, Sestak responded, "Well, I don't know." In fact, Sestak has missed 105 Congressional roll call votes this year, and sports the worst attendance record among the Pennsylvania Congressional delegation.

Now Sestak can keep tabs on his missed votes at the new website. There voters can see that Sestak has the 10th worst attendance record in the entire Congress, said Specter campaign manager Christopher Nicholas. "Voters will also be able to send Cong. Sestak an e-mail urging him to attend to the number one priority of a legislator, which is voting."

Unlike Sen. Specter, who while campaigning vigorously for re-election still manages to vote in the Senate, Sestak has decided to miss entire blocs of votes in the House of Representative in order to campaign across the state.

Sestak has missed important votes on funding for the Departments of Commerce and Justice among others.

3. Paid for by Citizens for Arlen Specter
What else would one expect?

According to the nonpartisan site GovTrak.us, Sestak has missed 6% of votes since 2007.
