Jane Orie may challenge Pat Toomey in GOP Senate primary
...PoliticsPA writes today that the Pennsylvania lawmaker met with Republican leaders in Washington recently "to discuss running for U.S. Senate."

Maybe Orie has looked at the polls and decided she could make a strong run against Pat Toomey, the former congressman who announced his bid to unseat Arlen Specter, only to have Specter bolt the GOP for the Democratic Party.

Toomey was in Harrisburg Wednesday as part of his ongoing statewide tour. Toomey said he has raised $1 million and has coalesced party support. However, while Toomey is the current frontrunner, there's ample room for more candidates in the 2010 Senate GOP primary.

Orie, from western Pennsylvania, shares some of Toomey's conservative credentials, which is what has led GOP leaders to wonder whether Toomey could win in Pennsylvania. But maybe Orie would get a bounce for being a fresh face on the national scene. Pennsylvania has never elected a female governor or U.S. senator.

1. I would enjoy seeing a challenger to Toomey.
Surprising that he has raised only $1 million so far. He must be not be expecting a strong challenger. Also it would be great fun to see the repukes spend millions tearing each other apart in the primary.

Peg Luksik (conservative anti-choice wing-nut and perennial also-ran candidate-for-something) is also in the mix. Orie always impressed me as being an intellectual lightweight.

On the other hand, the dem primary is likely to be brutal with Specter and Sestak battling it out.

2. Toomey has a good many fans among Pennsylvania's frustrated hardline conservatives.

Ones disgruntled over Pennsylvania's tradition of electing moderate to liberal Republican senators, e.g. Specter, Heinz, Schweiker, Scott, rather than right-wingers, of which Santorum is the only recent example, and of course he only lasted two terms before Casey Jr. crushed him with a 20% margin in 06. Also, Toomey has the outside support of Sen. Jim Demint (R - SC) and his purist "Senate Conservatives" outfit. The right-wing fatheads seem to be caught up in the delusion that what they really need to do to win is nominate ultrapure wingnuts. Seems they'll have to learn from bitter experience, if at all.

The one who called himself "Alan T Panda" or "Alan Panda Bear" on the internet and was interested in seducing kids while wearing animal costumes?

The clown who brought "Yiffing" into the popular vernacular
