Olney teen dead in snowball incident
Source: Philadelphia Inquirer

An Olney teen died today from a gunshot to the head after a confrontation with an adult who was hit with a snowball in Feltonville, police said.

It was Teven Rutledge's 16th birthday when he was shot while sitting on the steps of a friend's rowhouse in the 4800 block of D Street at 3:37 p.m. yesterday, police said.

He was pronounced dead at 11:34 a.m. at Temple University Hospital, police said.

Rutledge, of the 400 block of Lindley Avenue, was with friends throwing snowballs when one hit a passing adult in the face, Chief Inspector Keith Sadler said.

6. what's really sad
is those who use a tragic incident to make a cheap political point, all the while using derisive and intolerant terms such as 'gun nuts' to describe those that merely stand up for civil rights, including the right ot bear arms.

that's pretty lame imo.

i don't see any "gun nuts" saying what you are saying.

i just see those who wish to troll doing that.

8. honey, I am on my second life here at DU..been here since 2001 the early days
the answer to all gun nuts is MORE GUNS...and they claim if the person shot only shot first they would not be dead! sorry if America was founded on an erroneous idea that guns create peace..they thought slavery was good too, remember?

5. On a tangent, we can expect more of this as vets come home with PTSD.
And also as the economy continues to put people in a vise. At least, that's what I tend to think these days when I see this kind of insane over-reaction. It's the response of somebody who's already on the edge for other reasons.

11. that's it in a nutshell, there has to be an underlying reason that people like this
think it's alright to "solve" their problems (real or imagined)like this.

12. Sounds like premeditated murder.
It was unclear whether the teen meant to hit the man, but Sadler said that was irrelevant. The man exchanged words with the teen and then left. He returned with a handgun soon afterward and shot the boy.

He left (went home?), got a gun, came back and shot the kid.

13. exactly
it's a frigging cold blooded murder.

the evil act was the shooter's

blaming guns is ridiculous and trolling "gun nuts" *note your bigoted terminology* in light of this tragedy is contemptible.
