Send the frankin' king packing
Edited on Sun Dec-02-07 02:17 PM by PADEMJES12
Thanks for the post on the franking king Tim Murphy. We should really make it an award and present it to him at his office. That way, he'd have something major to tout for his next election. I've done some more checking in on him and it appears as if he is enough to make anyone in PA-18 ill. Imagine having over $400,000 of taxpayer dollars spent in mail franking, as ramboliberal shared while repeatedly being an "advocate" (makes me sick 2 use the word) for the Bush Administration and for bad trade agreements such as CAFTA which outsourced a ton of jobs over at the Sony plant. Heck that's not to mention he voted against the bridge fund, which would be at least a transition in Iraq. How's that as an advocate? Pretty grim. That's why i've decided to help all i can for the Hafer campaign because i think she has a good chance to dethrone naughty Tim after meeting her at the Westmoreland Co. Dem dinner. Here's a couple of links to check out. Looks like they've got a good start to the campaign, so here's her web page and a recent link i received via email:

<http://www.gecturf.com/bhafer/> / www.haferforcongress.com

Next, on the mid-atlantic labor page there was a write up on her recent labor endorsement from the CWA. You can check it out here: <http://www.midatlanticlabor.com/appiesnet/wordpress/?p=94>

Finally and not to Disappoint, here is sadly... our current Congressman Murphy in action on KDKA

<http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hwh-OCFCOTc>

I like how Tim acts as if someone actually wronged him in the video...

Tim Murphy franking... $405,000 of taxpayer money

A donation to Beth Hafer... 5, 10, 25; etc. <http://www.gecturf.com/bhafer/>

KICKING TIM to the curb... priceless
:kick:

1. Agree to kicking Tim to the curb... but with Steve O'Donnell!
I was gonna get involved with Beth, but I REALLY like what O'Donnel is saying. Watch for this guy.

2. hmmmmm...not too sure about that one
we'll see what happens. Hafer is certainly the choice in a majority of peoples views the best candidate to defeat tim. She already has a labor endorsement which you can read about here...

She's the reason the cook political report is only a +2.

4. Hafer- Murphy
the cook report gauges the most competitive house and senate races in the country. Charlie Cook does these reports and a Hafer-Murphy matchup is a R+2. I looked at the list and it looks like the Democrats have an excellent chance to win a bunch of seats again. Factor in all the retirements and the lousy job the Bush Administration is doing. There are alot of close ones... English, Dent, Gerlach, and Carney all have tough races, aside from Tim Tim. It should be an interesting year ahead of us... so everyone help out if you can (thats what im trying to do) to make sure we can win all of these races! The thing that's interesting is that many of the race reports are this close this far away from the election. Hope that Helps some :)

5. Thanks. Is there an O'Donnell-Murphy report at this point, since he just declaired?
Or, should I just keep my eyes open this far in advance, since Steve O'Donnell just jumped into the race.

Again, thanks!

6. I would keep my eyes open
i would keep my eyes open at this point. I guess the goal is to come up with the best democratic candidate at this point to defeat Tim Murphy. There's obviously alot of intangibles involved in a campaign and i think hafer gives the democrats the best chance to win. Plus, she's strong on workers and veterans issues which will make her a great fit for the district.

7. Also I would like to briefly clarify for everyone
Steve O'Donnell did not "just get into the PA-18 race". I checked the fec paperwork. Just getting into the race would constitute entering in November or December. Steve O'Donnell filed his papers way back in September I believe, and his campaign account of money raised is only $50 dollars....
Last quarter, Beth Hafer raised 76,000 dollars, which is on track with freshmen congressmen Jason Altmire and Patrick Murphy from 2006. Im not sure the 50 dollars Steve O'Donnell raised indicates any grassroots support... maybe only if 50 people gave a dollar apiece? I think a professional organized grassroots campaign is needed to can naughty Tim, who you know is probably working on some type of a scam. I'd definitely keep my eyes open.... and look towards Hafer.

Jesse
