NY v. Philly. Put another way: Spitzer/Bloomberg v. Rendell/Nutter
For biographical reasons, there's a big split in my life between New York (streets paved with gold) and Philadelphia (the lousy place I had to move to because of a sick relative).

But I've been spending some time in both places lately, and I must admit that I prefer the governor/mayor combination Philly now has.

State governments may become very important, as I recently heard constitutional lawyer Alan Dershowitz say that there are at least two votes on Supreme Court who say that maybe Church/State separation and other constitutional restrictions can not be breached by Congress or federal government -- but they can be breached with impunity by local governments. (Yeah, I know it's ridiculous.)
