1. For the record-Harrisburg is not in western Pa.
In some ways I agree that the state has bad points, but hell it could be worse.

4. That was my biggest pet peeve - about Harrisburg
I grew up in Perry County. We are way closer to Philadelphia than Pittsburgh HOWEVER technically we are Southcentral PA

2. Anyone who refers to Pittsburgh as Shitsburgh loses 100% credibility
Look, our state, and the city of Pittsburgh, have our share of problems like much of the rest of the Northeast and the transition from the old Rust Belt to the new economies, but how anyone could spend any reasonable amount of time here and not find large parts of the city and state to love, I don't know.

6. Yeah you are right
id much rather live in Pittsburgh than California... CA has higher crime, higher cost of living, over populated. Did you ever see that movie the Big Lebowski? Wasn't "the dude" from California? I wouldnt go out of my way to insult other people collectively based on a geographic location. Kinda funny though that someone would do that.

8. Welcome to DU and that just goes to show you how bad

the rest of the country really is. To me a "green city" is one that would support and use renewable energy. Guess what? We are the 2nd largest metropolitan area in this state and we don't get the benefits of renewable energy incentives because it goes by the size of the damn electric company providing the power.

edit to add:
This should be available to all regardless of who provides the local utility power by making it a state project and not a utility project. Ed dropped the ball leaving this part of western Pa. out of the loop of renewable opportunity. Though it is modelled after some other states, Ed can change that and I've tried to get him to change that, but I've been told it is a matter of not enough funds to apply to all. I don't believe that and we're shafted again.

3. WTF
I can remember an old campaign "Butler County is my home"

Yeah, granted sometimes it is like Children of the Corn-On heroin. But none the less... Butler County will always be home no matter how far I travel.

5. Hey at least PA is better than DUH-HIO!! I've lived off and on
in PA (near Philly suburbs) for 20+ years. When given the choice to return to Philly or go to Charlottesville VA, it's a toss up. Those are my only two places that I would want to live. Granted VA is a much more efficiently run state, but I still love Philly. :)

OH, my birthstate (which I have divorced BTW) is a whole nuther story, at least southern OH (Cincy) talk about suckage!!! ACK!! I endured 18 months of hell in Bush Country and then fled for Europe. I am very happy now, living between PA and overseas. :hi:
