Exclusive Poll: Hoeffel Takes The Lead
By: Jim Panyard, The Bulletin
10/19/2007
By JIM PANYARD The Bulletin

The race for control of the Montgomery County Commissioners is extremely tight according to an exclusive poll by The Bulletin of the most likely, or "super voters."
The poll indicates Democrat former commissioner and former congressman Joseph Hoeffel is likely assured one of the three council seats being vied for by the four candidates in the Nov. 6.
The other candidates, incumbent Republican commissioner James Matthews, Democrat incumbent Ruth Damsker and county District Attorney Bruce Castor are in a scramble for the other two seats.
If Ms. Damsker and Mr. Hoeffel were to prevail, it would mark the first time in 130 years Democrats controlled Montgomery County government.
Mr. Hoeffel was the number one pick of 33 percent of the voters polled and the number two pick of 19 percent of those responding.

1. this is the state's...
hottest race this election year.

It's pretty much a toss-up as to which party's going to control the Montco courthouse, but this Plymouth-Whitemarsh school shooting case certainly gave GOP DA Bruce Castor lots of face time lately...much to the dismay of Damsker-Hoeffel, I'm sure.

4. I actually saw an ad on tv last nite for Jim Matthews
I think that's the first time I've ever saw an ad for Montco Commissioners.

5. Hopefully, Hoeffel can parlay that
into being a candidate to take over for Spector.

6. I'm all for Hoeffel. If the brother of Chris Matthews loses.
I am happy! :D
