Former Democratic U.S. Rep. Frank Mascara understands the importance of seniority in government. That's why he's endorsing Sen. Arlen Specter in his reelection bid, even though Specter is a Republican.
"I owe you and this is an excellent opportunity to show my gratitude," Mascara said Wednesday during a press conference in Courthouse Square Plaza, Washington. "Pennsylvania can ill afford to lose him."
The former congressman and county commissioner said he "didn't hesitate" when Specter called him and asked for his support, even though he is from the opposing political party.
Specter is facing off against Democratic U.S. Rep. Joseph Hoeffel of Montgomery County for the Senate seat in the November election.
