Please support QUALIFIED Judge Virginia Linder for Oregon Supreme Court
The most qualified candidate in this month's race for Oregon Supreme Court, is Judge Virginia Linder, who has served on the Oregon Court of Appeals since 1997. Judge Linder has earned the endorsements of almost every daily newspaper in the state, including the Oregonian, the Salem Statesman-Journal, the Bend Bulletin, the Daily Astorian, and the Eugene Register-Guard. Judge Linder also received more votes in the Oregon State Bar judicial preference poll than the other two candidates COMBINED.

Prior to her appointment to the bench, Judge Linder served as Oregon's Solicitor General, the state's top appeals lawyer.

Finally, Oregon is one of only two states without a single woman sitting on its highest court. When you have such an extremely superior candidate available to correct this kind of wrong, the choice is incredibly easy.

Please join me in voting for Judge Virginia Linder for Oregon Supreme Court.

1. I like Gene Hallman
Linder is described as a conservative on criminal and business issues. We don't need any more conservatives on our court, even if she is a woman. She's very qualified, I just prefer Hallman.

Hallman is endorsed by Planned Parenthood and most of the unions. He's got a diverse background that includes operating his own business, practicing law, working in government, and serving on municipal and circuit courts. I think he would bring the temperament to the court that people would tend to associate with women. He just seems less hard core and more open minded.

In any event, it is nice to have two great choices.

2. Described by whom?
Linder is described as a conservative on criminal and business issues.

Just curious.

3. Newspaper articles
The Oregonian endorsement, maybe the Statesman Journal one. I read about them last week when I voted, so I can't remember exactly where I read what. This was also the overall feel I got of her, from what I read. There was also the endorsement from the Register Guard, seems like they always endorse the most law and order candidates that are out there. The DOJ, the AG, and then to the courts; just too law and order for me, that's all. Very highly qualified though.

4. I heard another justice is retiring. Maybe they can both be on the
court eventually!

5. That would be terrific
I think Linder would make a good judge, better than most. I just happened to like Hallman better this go round. I just thought I'd post his link too so people could get a look. I love the internets!!

6. Seriously?
Her endorsement from Dave Frohnmayer and her decision to put it in the voters pamphlet like it's a good thing lost her my vote.

7. Get real.
Gene Hallman is a great lawyer and great guy, but he never had a shot.

Now we'll get to watch the ugliest, most money-driven run-off election in Oregon history.

And there's an excellent chance Jack Roberts will be our next associate justice.

When will democrats quit the family bickering and go fight the real enemy out there???

8. I share your frustration about Democrats but I seem to recall that...
Supreme Court positions are non-partisan. That said, I definitely will not be voting for Jack Roberts. Linder has been an effective appellate court judge and I think she'll do just fine as one of the Supremes. She's got a good handle on the fact that a judge's job is to uphold the law, politics and personal beliefs aside.
