David Wu's congressional seat - is Goli Ameri a threat?
I ask because she's getting big money put into her pocket.

I have met her and she's beyond retrograde.

Wu is a great and responsive Representative from District 1.

How do you west-siders feel about this?

Time to start chucking money at Wu to counteract the big ugly business giving money to Goli Ameri?

Thanks!

1. I think so
The 1st District is only marginally Democratic.

I don't live there (I'm in the 3rd) but I talked my 76 year old mom into voting for him.

Retrograde...I like that.

2. More money wont determine that race.
That race may be close. Wu should be ok 'cause he is the incumbent. If Oregon is close in the Presidential election, I predict Wu and Hooley both hold their seats. If Bush wins Oregon outright, one or both of them may lose.

I'm not sure sending Wu more money will tip the election one way or the other. Both national parties will be backing those two heavily.

3. I see her campaign signs
around here in Washington County....I have also seen her pop ups on Oregonlive.com. After reading a piece about how she doesn't want money for schools...and that she sends her kids to private school....how could anyone think she would be a good fit for Oregon? Not me. Apparently she has some money for all those signs!

4. Just have to add now that I am aware of her scouring the
downtown Portland financial district for money over the past few weeks. Another swell poster said that money alone won't decide the race, but a well-financed ad blitz could certainly sway some.

5. Wu sold us out on Medicare and Pioneer Courthouse
so he may well not be getting my vote- and I imagine there are quite a few others who feel the same way... even so, my guess is that Ameri is still a longshot.

7. Please don't judge Wu on this one issue...
this prescription bill was so confusing and still is...we need to be represented when the dems finally get back in and make the necessary changes.

Wu has many more positives than negatives...

6. Meet Rep. Ameri, our new District 1 congresswoman
Wu's support across the district is weak, his seat is vulnerable, and his opponent is getting huge funds from the yacht club clique. This one is going to be a tough sell for Wu, because Ameri can make the case that she'd have a lot more legislative pull as a republican in the GOP-dominated house than Wu has now. Meanwhile, Wu is going to lose chunks of his base due to his defection on the trojan horse Medicare bill.

This will be a rare uphill race for the incumbant.
